Bar and Grill 4: The Conversation Pit

I rented Syriana yesterday, and popped it in this mornin'. Alexander Siddig's first scene as one of two princes impressed me. Kinda makes me miss the guy, too, and makes me look forward to the new season of 24 that much more.

For personal reasons the movie and specifically the soundtrack make me severely ill.

However, Siddig was amazing, like usual. He really did justice to his role.

Well, I finished the movie up this afternoon when I crawled out of bed. It really was good - I don't think George Clooney earned his Oscar, but I can see why he got it. Siddig was pretty good, too. I hope he keeps the beard for 24.

^Hey, she's not going to cut you any slack.
Wrong! She remembers me as a dedicated, nightly, niner no0b, totally wet behind the lobes, but eager to learn :D

I do? :p

I thought you quit watching cus of your work schedule or the Spike schedule change or something....

Wasn't that you?

I mean, we get so many DS9 newbies around here...it's hard to remember who said what months later...

Especially if you are me. I have a very short memory. This is a fact that those in the know around this forum have come to count on. ;)

Well, I've known it'll come to this for a while now, I just haven't posted about it yet. Not quite sure why, probably cos I didn't quite grasp it.

Anyway, we took my dad to the hospital yesterday. He's having surgary (hopefully) tomorrow. He needs a bypass and a heart valve replacement. Overall it's actually a fairly routine procedure, OTOH they're still operating on his heart so it's not that routine. So yeah, I've been a bit of a nervous wreck lately. I did manage to get the whole next week off work so that way I can visit him after the surgery.

My mom and I went to visit him yesterday, he's doing good, just bored lol. It sucks the hospital is that far away (90 minute drive), but it is the best in the country which is why he's there.

Anyway... like I said, he's supposed to have the surgery on tomorrow. He's not critical, so it's always possible they could bump a week or two. I hope that doesn't happen though.

That's about it... I'll post more when I have more info.

^ Wow...I know how you feel. My dad had bypass surgery years ago, when it was a relatively new procedure. I was in college at the time, so I wasn't even around when he had the operation...but it was really scary for me.

It was a tad less 'routine' then...but still, you are right: anything that involves the heart is scary to think about.

I hope your dad's operation is super successful and that he feels alot better as a result of getting it very quickly!

Keep us posted when you can, okay? We will be thinking about you and your family!

*Hugs*

I went to go see The Prestige yesterday.

Everyone should go check it out - one of the best of the year.

Geez, BigFoot. I really hope all goes well for your dad.
Thanks, I appreciate it.

I went to see him again, this time with my mom and my bro. He's officially been confirmed for surgery for tomorrow which is good.

Didn't hear someone say that in the AL ... or was it you. I can't remember. The next movie I want to see is The Departed, but not sure when.

Life is busy for me at the moment. About to head out buy myself a new business shirt, as I have no white ones. Also thinking about what I'll buy family for Christmas this year.

^

It was probably me. I'm spammin' up a bit.

The Departed is a good one, too, but The Prestige is better.

I had a feeling it was you or another mod. Not sure when it starts here. But I won't be seeing anything for the next few weeks.

I wanted to see The Prestige and The Science of Sleep...but I'm finding it somewhat difficult to get to a movie theater these days. ;)

Do we not have many n00bs in the DS9 forum right now? Is that why the bar and grill is so, uh, slow?

We should send a bulletin through the Red Shirt Lounge or something... ;)
