Well, I have 'survied' the move...if by 'survive' you mean 'lived'.
At least so far.
One false move and I will be killed in a cardboard and book avalanche.
Oh...and I would like to state,
for the record, that the people I purchased this house from:
1. Suck in a big way at do-it-yourself home improvements.
2. Are terrible housekeepers.
It's gonna cost me craploads of money to undo some of the GHASTLY jobs they did at some of these do-it-yourself 'improvements'.
I could enumerate, but you'd all be bored to death. But highlights include (but are not limited to):
-a cabinet floor made out of unfinished painted planks, none of which are actually nailed down.
-a perfectly good countertop covered over with some sort of goop in an effort to get 'texture' or something, but which ended up looking like a countertop covered over with goop. Visualize an explosion in a caulking factory.

-and while they were at it, they didn't tape off the sink in said countertop, and that has goop all over it too.

-a lay-it-yourself kitchen floor that has lumps and air pockets underneath.
-two garage-door openers, neither of which actually work.
