PS. I think flowers would be a lovely idea for a present!
I could go for a long look. Especially if there was a sit-down for a cup of tea afterwards.
Okay, back to more mundane topics...
Who on earth thought it was a good idea to put thick lotion in a non-squeezable bottle?
I've just got a new bottle of calendula lotion for young master trampledamage and it's in a hard plastic bottle, either I can't get any or I get too much! And all the time I'm fighting to get the bloody stuff out of the bottle, he's off and running somewhere else.
As if my day wasn't going badly enough as it was...![]()
He totally laughed at me for buying myself flowers and he thinks I'm crazy, but he did help me put some around the house.
I think flowers are a strange thing to give. What do they represent? Seriously, they die off after a few days or so, is that some sort of hint? Perhaps that beauty fades over time or something? As a man, I really don't get it.![]()
Actually the temporary nature of flowers is one of their plus points - as Laren has just noted.
It's a wonderful gift that'll last a few days of beauty and scent, and then you can clear up and you aren't stuck with trying to find somewhere to put whatever it was you were given, or feeling guilty because it's in the basement.
They don't represent anything; they're just pretty. And one can always give some sort of potted plant that won't die off in a few days!

Flowers really are nice, I don't see why you'd even need a special occasion to buy them. I almost got myself a bunch today. Saw some nice, pink roses at the supermarket. But I'll be gone for the weekend so it would be a bit of a waste.
Though I must admit that I'm not too fond of receiving potted plants as a gift. My grandmother does this all the time and it's becoming a space issue. Also, while the plants were in full bloom when I got them, the blossoms are all gone and now the plants are just some green blobs sitting in my kitchen and I can't bring myself to just throw them out. They're alive after all!

Like a cactus!

For fresh cut flowers in a vase it's imperative that you add a little bleach and sugar to the water.
Well I love flowers and especially when I grow my own. I have not one bit of free rail space on my deck because my passion for flowers and plants have just "blossomed" through the years. I wish I could post a picture. I have plenty of perennials and even after the blooms fade you still have the foliage to admire.
Don't forget that potted plants are great for your home as they filter the CO2! I even bring in some of my annuals over the winter...so some of my plants are years old at this point.
