Okay! Cool Beans! I now know what I'm working with. Alright here's the short version.
You'll need to "fake" luminescence for the "lit" parts of the ship. This is easy:
Step 1: Start dark and de-saturated this will be your base.
Step 2: Make a new layer: use a brighter, more saturated base color. Fill over the Base layer but leave a bit of the base showing.
Step 3: Gaussian Blur, that Layer until the blurred lines reach the edge of the Base layer.
Step 4: Layer = Screen.
Step 5: Repeat steps 2-4, increasing the brightness and saturation, until finished.
Second, go make a 512 by 512 photoshop file. Go draw squares at various shades of grey between 80% - 20% strength. Duplicate and Rotate, till you get a metal paneling feel. When you feel good with the metal paneling, duplicate said image as a new layer and add noise, Overlay it, and use about 20-40% opacity. Continue to tweak until happy.
Put it over your aztec at about 20-30% opacity, try to make it follow your aztec.
Finally: PANELING, add small thin black lines around where large paneling would be segregated, Add Emboss or bevel layer style.
I think that's it. If you have any questions feel free to PM. If you need to see my qualifications well... just go look at my USS Pike thread.
