Trek has been guilty of this a lot but they are also guilty of introducing sensible tech which they later forgot about.

The subcutaneous transponder in Patterns of Force was a jolly good invention that would have solved a multitude of issues if they didn't use the only two in existence apparently

I think the CGI version is well done but very stylised.

I couldn't figure out what the movements seemed both off and familiar at the same time, but it then it hit me. They move like they have Parkinson's. Kirk in particular. Maybe the person who made it was trying to emphasize Shatner's dramatics, but the swaying is what got to me.
