Another attempt at Re-animation!

Trek has been guilty of this a lot but they are also guilty of introducing sensible tech which they later forgot about.
The subcutaneous transponder in Patterns of Force was a jolly good invention that would have solved a multitude of issues if they didn't use the only two in existence apparently :rommie:
I think the CGI version is well done but very stylised.
I couldn't figure out what the movements seemed both off and familiar at the same time, but it then it hit me. They move like they have Parkinson's. Kirk in particular. Maybe the person who made it was trying to emphasize Shatner's dramatics, but the swaying is what got to me.

they feel like early MoCap. or even modern mocap. MoCap when it's too sensitive and they don't tone it down.

i'll be honest, i would prefer ReBoot style animation over... this.

I first saw Star Trek as a kid with the original special effects. The Star Trek remastered came along, and I loved them, and ever since I've wanted The animated series to get a make over.

Part of that is non-actors tend to move around too much. A second thing is that even in traditional rotoscope lots of fidgety action humans do which we don't notice IRL tends to look exaggerated when applied to something non-photographic. When Disney animators used rotoscoping, they translated the movements into simplified versions of the action and eliminated all the excess movement. They used it more as a reference than tracing.

Not necessarily. Inexperienced extras can be nervous and plainly don't understand what to do when on camera.
Most'll be vastly out of focus or unrecognizable in crowd scenes. But my ex-sister-in-law's friend has a noticeable moment in AMERICAN BEAUTY's gym scene.....sharing two medium shots with Kevin Spacey.
