Ashes to Ashes BBC One Tonight

I still don't quite see Gene and Alex as a couple, and I wish they'd explain what happened to Hunt's wife (who I'm pretty sure was mentioned in LOM).

In the script, it was said that Gene Hunt's wife left him for another woman! They cut the reason out on the show though.

You can read that bit here

What if she ends up sleeping with her own mother? :p
I wonder if that's any creepier than sleeping with her god father. :D

Another good episode. I had a feeling that it would turn out to be him, but I thought his wife would be involved too.
I hope that they have something of an ending next week, even though we know it's gonna be back for a second series, I don't want it leaving on a cliffhanger.

Yeah, I quite enjoyed the episode. From the beginning it seemed pretty obvious that it would turn out to be him, and the wife did give him a pretty dodgy look as if she definitely wasn't impressed. I was quite surprised when he stabbed Shaz though.

I didn't realise that next week's was the finale, I'm hoping it'll be a good one, but if there's going to be a second season I suppose there will be some sort of cliffhanger.

I have to say, whilst I do like this series, I really like Gene Hunt but Alex is beginning to grate on me a little bit. Her mum and god father don't seem to particularly notice her random, and mad, mumblings and behaviour around them, to the point of it seeming completely ridiculous to me. But then, I suppose the premise is ridiculous so I'm not sure what else I should expect.

Most of the time, no body noticed Sam's weirder moments either, but since it's all in Alex's (Sam's) head, why would they?

I missed it! Hopefully my husband will have it on the hd when I get home... :scream:

ETA: Mr WillsBabe had the episode on disc and I've just seen it. I really enjoyed it, although I thought I wasn't going to at the start since I didn't really take to the funraiser. Anyway, is it me or is it getting darker? Things are getting darker for the CID characters but not necessarily Alex so much, in the way that things got darker for Sam.

I loved Gil (the fundraiser). He was comedic and sympathetic, making for a complex character. He's also my favorite actor and the guy in my avatar.

Things are getting very darker. Gene reverted to how he behaved in LOM, and not in a good way.

By the way, it won't end in a cliff hanger next week according to some interview Glenister did. It's supposed to be a satisfying ending. Of course, we know there is a second series, so Alex isn't going home.

He was in something... else. Oh well.

Technically, S1 of Life on Mars didn't end on a cliffhanger. It didn't answer the "big question", but it wasn't like a Lost episode.

As for the episode... that scene where the Godfather dude looks dissapointed that she brings up Hunt. Creepy.

He just won the RTS Best Actor award playing a pedophile (!) in Secret Life and he's been nominated for a BAFTA in the same role. :) He's also married to Alex (Keeley Hawes)

As to Evan (the godfather type:lol:) he's just creepy. If he turns out to be good, I'll be disappointed.

I dunno... maybe he looks like Alan Rickman or something.

As for Evan, it's all just weird since it's all in her head. Between him and Hunt, she's like a walking Freudian stereotype. :)

He was Tom Quinn in the first few series of Spooks.

OH THERE YOU GO. It was kind of bugging me. Not enough to look it up though.

He also left Spooks to film the Pride and Prejudice movie (the one with Keira Knightley), which is actually referenced in Spooks. Maybe that's where you know him from.

I can't believe they mulleted him up and made him look like Earl's (of My Name is Earl) brother--I never would've known that was him until some of the closeups.

Very much looking forward to the finale--I like the darker direction it's taken the past few episodes, though the copout in killing off Shaz was a bit annoying after all the buildup.
