Are you "aging out" of Star Trek?

The style of TV storytelling has changed radically over the last few decades. The fact that you can't get into the new stuff might have nothing to do with your age, just what you're used to.

For me, I don't think I'll ever age out of "Star Trek." But I am changing my opinions on certain episodes and characters as I get older. In particular, I have far more appreciation for Tuvok, and Vulcans in general, than I did as a kid. I used to find them boring. I also used to think that I would just naturally become more mature with age. Maybe most people do, but I seem to have to make major efforts to behave like an adult. Emotional control is a daily effort.

I've aged out of Trek in the sense that the streaming-era material doesn't really do it for me. I think I'm so stuck on '80s and '90s Trek simply because it's what I grew up with and what hits a pleasant nostalgic note.

Probably one of the most honest assessments I've seen for when something just doesn't work for a person. Well put 🍻

Simple answer: Nope.

That said, I may stop if I don't like SFA, the same way I took a break when VOY was airing.

But my age (now north of 60) has nothing to do with it.
