If only there were something common and famous about Sheffield. Something that people would recognize, something that would bring everyone together, so everyone would hear of Sheffield and feel United.
Some day, maybe.
The only thing that comes to mind when I think of Sheffield are... knives. My Grandmother left me a whole set of flatware and cutlery, in a nice box. (Oh, thanks Nanny). If only there were something common and famous about Sheffield. I like the documentary Made in Sheffield, about the new wave/electronic/postpunk scene there. Human League, ABC, Heaven 17: etc. If Human League makes you think “Don’t You Want Me,” well, the two albums before that were much more electronic and experimental. They even had an instrumental in a Radiophonic style called “Tom Baker.”
Early Human League is best Human League - back when the two guys who went on to form Heaven 17 were in the band. "Being Boiled" has always been my favourite song of theirs.I like the documentary Made in Sheffield, about the new wave/electronic/postpunk scene there.
