Anyone Here Excited For the Fantastic Four Movie?

There's a thread about it.

That thread is about casting, rumors etc. I just want to know if anyone cares about the movie in this thread. This thread is a bit more specific. Of course I am aware that people will probably go off topic at some point.
Yes, we needed a thread specifically on the excitement level for the the film. Because there is no way that topic would be broached in the other thread.

If you don't want to talk about this specific topic the other thread is probably for you. Enjoy.

I just think there was no need for this thread and the topic was being discussed in the FF thread. If I was a mod I'd merge them.

The more I see of this movie the less I am interested in watching it.

In all honesty I am one of the few that liked the first film and was OK with the second.
A mis-cast darker version of an unnecessary reboot is a waste of time and treasure.

I agree. Nothing in the preview interests me. The mis casting of Johnny Storm, the look of the Thing, the ages of the main cast being much to young etc. Obviously they are borrowing much from the Ultimate FF but come on there is a reason that series failed and was cancelled.

I think this thread is a better place for the people that don't want to see it because of whatever to be negative while the other thread can be more people that are actually interested in it. But I'm just a poster.

Pubert, no poll?

Well, not excited. Back when first announced I did have some hope for it but now all hopes are gone. I'm in the "maybe it won't totally suck" and still be watchable.

It's funny, to me at least, but most of the "news" items were around the stupid issue of casting Human Torch and when I look at the posters, he's the only one that looks worth a damn. The Reed looks to much like someone I'd like to take his lunch money from and the Sue makes me miss Jessica Alba. The extra rocky Thing isn't a choice I care for either, I liked to think of the Thing as having a very thick and leathery hide to the point of looking like a rock but more like a extra dry rhino hide, not literally a rock with little pebbles falling off. And no pants.
I had to endure Dr. Manhattan, are we getting a Thing's thing? Because pass.

Ah a poll would have been good. I will add one if I can. The "things thing"? LOL! Pretty funny. Yeah I hope they put some pants on The Thing. Of course I wont be seeing this until its on television and I can watch it for nearly free. I wont even rent this one for a dollar on red box.

Excited would be putting it strongly but I think it looks good from the trailers. I enjoyed Chronicle and I've liked all of the cast in anything I've ever seen them in. I'll go and see it unless reviews and word of mouth are horrible.

Who am I kidding? I'll go and see it even if reviews and word of mouth are horrible.

Sure. The production team has described it as both "Cronenbergian sci-fi" and a "dark Amblin" movie. Both appeal to me.

I'm a little disappointed that it won't be released in 3D... but that isn't a must

Oh wow, you're such a he-man.

Though I don't think that, I do think Miles Teller just has... I don't know to describe it.. just an annoying face.
He just looks like a smug arsehole. I feel the same way towards Emile Hirsch, it's not based on anything they've done; haha I just can't help not liking the look of them!

Like others, I'm an FF fan from the 60's. They were my first Marvel superhero crush. They took me away from DC forever. But no, I am not excited at the thought of seeing this movie. But I will see it in the theater and I will keep an open mind, and if I like it, I won't mind saying so.

The FF seem to me to be like Superman in that it has been so difficult to really capture them on film (well, except for Richard Donner). Both Supes and the FF are just so over the top in your face. As others have suggested, it will probably take Marvel to actually do these characters real justice. BTW, I liked the Tim Story movie -- wasn't anything great but was entertaining.

  • i'd agree...and combined with his youth, is one major reason I will wait till Redbox. Other reasons:
  • The Youth & Skinniness of Ben Grimm
  • Overall dark tone of the film (i.e. NOT feeling like a comic book
  • Johnny & Sue's racial mismatch... Jassika Nicole of Fringe would've been been far better.... or the best would be Jesse & Megan Rath
  • Sue sounding very generic
  • Johnny not sounding like a hothead...a goofball scene in the trailer, but then sounding super serious
  • Dr. Doom -- again???
My 10 year old is excited...but she never saw the previous movies (and was shocked at seeing Captain America in the first few minutes of Silver Surfer...before I put her to bed)

It's a four part interview actually. I started listening to part two today. Josh Trank comes off surprisingly level headed and cool given all the horrible press about him.

Director(Josh Trank)Not Responsible For Fantastic Four 2015 Movie?

That what it seems like he wants us to believe. It was Trank that decided to make Sue and Johnny adopted siblings. He decided to make a shortless Ben Grimm aka The Thing. He wanted all the characters to be near teenagers. The previews looked horrible and now the reviews are coming in and they are horrible. Trank should have followed the source material and listened to what fans wanted. He is trying to blame others for his own stupid decisions. The movie can still make money but it seems like its off to a rocky start. Below is a article on his deleted twitter. That one short tweet tells the whole story.
