Anyone Here Excited For the Fantastic Four Movie?

I have to say I have no desire to see it. Getting tired of reboots happening so soon after the originals(I didn't like the originals by the way). The previews have done nothing to garner my excitement at all. Maybe I am getting superhero fatigue(A"AIU may have started it).

Saw a preview the other night at the cinema when we saw Terminator.

I turned to my partner and asked, "Who are these children???"

I hadn't bothered to see a preview yet and this one bored the tripe out of me. We're basically seeing everything this year but neither of us is willing to see this piece of crap.

Yup I have to agree with you guys. It looks like a steaming pile of Thing Doo. Actually the thing himself looks like a steaming pile.

I'm inclined to give it the benefit of the doubt--and am hoping against hope that we get a better Doom than the previous movies gave us.

Shouldn't this be part of the Fantastic Four thread?

I refuse to post in this thread on that basis.

Ah, crap....

I fell for it as well.... How very cunning of the OP. ;)

To answer his question though... Not really. I mean, it looks like it could be one of saturdaynightnothingontviambored-movies, like the other FF movies. But for all I know it's gonna rawk. So, we'll see. I doubt I'll catch this in cinemas, so probably when it's out on dvd/bluray, or perhaps Netflix.

I'm more interested in it than in anything else coming out this summer, yeah.

I'm not excited. I saw the previous two movies on TV and thought they were fine. Not sure what fans were complaining about, as FF was always lightweight fun IMO, and that's what the movies were. I can't imagine any FF movie being essential viewing.

I'm a big FF fan (have issues #13 - 180 of the original comic still - 180 is when I stopped reading comics in general) - and I know the Ultimate FF origin story (which is more what this film appears to be using) - but yeah, after seeing the trailers, and the other major change to Johnny Storm (an d now Due's 'adopted', etc.) - I have ZERO desire to see this film. Hell, this time the Thing is 100% CGI, but has virtually NONE of the classic 'Thing' look from the comics.

I also never cared for the 'Ultimate' storyline change making Reed, Sue and Ben near teenagers. Again, that may not be FOX's doing, but I never liked what it did for the team dynamic myself. I've also never cared for the 'Ultimate' version of Victor Von Doom either.

This one's probably going to bomb bigger than FOX's first two attempts and we'll never see the FF again until/unless Marvel Studios somehow reacquires the film rights. IF that happens I pray they won't go with the 'Ultimate' versions, but we'll see. Again most likely this will be the last attempt at a big budget FF film.

Compared to FF, would you say other super teams have an advantage because they don't have a set line-up? Avengers, X-Men, Justice League, etc, can always be given new origin stories mixing and matching characters that seem appealing, but Fantastic Four doesn't have that flexibility and variety.

Eh, I'll wait for it to hit cable. Trying to find time to go see a movie in the theater can be rather difficult for me. Sometimes it's a real hassle so I see most movies at home eventually. I have to be really excited about it to figure out a way to do it. This movie doesn't scream "See me in the theater!".

I was super interested. It was advertised as a love letter to Kirby's original run; being more of a monster flick than a superhero film. And it looked like it would have some horror elements. I was intrigued with that info, along with Trank directing, because I loved Chronicle.

But then I saw this last(final) trailer, which was released 3 weeks before wide release, with unfinished CGI and a whole whack of cheesy one liners/cliche gags. I was turned off completely from the most recent trailer. I'll still see it. Maybe a matinee during a slow work day. But my expectations are in the dirt.

Yeah, sure. I like the Fantastic Four and while this looks to be a different take on some things, that's in no way a bad thing.

If it entertains me for a couple of hours, it would've done it's job.

This movie looks like crap to me. I was never onboard the Ultimate version of the FF and seeing that this was the direction this film took I wasn't interested. What I've seen of the trailer just confirmed my suspicions. Pass.
