Anyone here ever see Robocop: Prime Directives the mini-series?

I've only seen the first one so far, but, budget limitations aside, it's not that bad. Holding my interest. Okay, not great, but I read the other parts are better...

It is terrible. You are fucking your brain from watching it. Abort, retry, fail. Do not pass go, do not watch the remaining three installments.

Liberate tutume ex inferis.

Yes. All four of them. It was the fomenting experience for my descent into raging alcoholism.

They are truly awful. If you treasure any part of your brain, turn back now.

I saw the first two and only didn't see the others do to outside factors and not cause I wasn't interested.

Are they great, no. Are they average....in places perhaps but not overall. I'd rate the two I saw as Below Average with glimpses of mediocrity considering the budget and limitations.

I would sooner watch RoboCop 2 (which I think is actually worse than 3) a dozen times in a row than sit through another viewing of Prime Directives.
Colour me properly warned, my friend.;)
I'll let ya know what I think (although at this point, I have to say the makeup on Murphy without the helmet is laughable:eek:).

Better or worse overall than Robocop 3 (which I actually like, after a fashion, that is;))?
The production value on Robo3 is about the only place that R:3 beats them. I bought the Robo trilogy set during the summer and watched the first two. Found myself yet to watch 3 because well...its part 3. The TV show was better than part 3, any single hour.

The minis though may be on par with 3, imo, but remember I only saw the first two minis.

The TV show subverted all that the series was trying to say; it was a corporate-friendly betrayal of the idea (reality) that we are cogs in the master plan of profit. The third film, while absolutely weak in the final fight with Otomo, had undeniable heart at the core of its tale (and a kick-ass Basil Poledouris score), and should be respected on that level, IMO.
That said, yeah, I did like the series quite a bit- I guess I just love the Rob Bottin suit that much.:guffaw:

I just now watched the second part, and WOW was it better than the first. I *totally* wanna see how this plays out.;)

I saw the first one ages ago and thought it was kind of OK, except that Robo appears to be about five foot four this time. I picked up the cheapo DVD set in a charity shop for £1 a couple of years ago but never got round to watching it yet...

Been there, seen that. All I can say is that the premise behind RoboCable was OK but rushed. I also didn't like that after almost every battle RoboCop was literally on the verge of short circuiting or barely operational and then he would suddenly kick back into action. The intention was well meaning, but the delivery was poor.

You're not far off. Page Fletcher is roughly 5'8", four inches shorter than Peter Weller. When the crew first tried to fit Fletcher into the Robosuit that Rob Bottin had sent the team, he quite simply didn't fit.

What did Julian Grant decide to do? Hacksaw the fucking legs until Fletcher could almost fit in the suit. Bottin was furious upon discovering this when the suit was shipped back to him after the production's conclusion.

Well, so far, the first ep of 4 was okay, but not great. The second one was really good! If the third & fourth are as good, I'll count myself fortunate to have bought them.
Love the avi, BTW.:techman:

Robocop - Great movie.

Robocop 2 - Ok movie, if overdone on the "gore."

Robocop 3 - Is rated PG-13.

Robocop the Series - Mostly crap.

Robcop PD - Never seen it.

Robocop - Great movie. Really great.

Robocop 2 - Ok movie, if a little meandering & pointless. Great Phil Tippet stop motion.

Robocop 3 - A return to the central theme of the first movie without the "R" rating, the original actor, or the $ to pull off the final fight.

Robocop the Series - Mostly crap. Nice cartoons & cruiser, though.

Robcop PD - Good "B" continuation, so far. Final ep TBA. Or critiqued. Whatever.

In the end, I enjoyed it more than both the series AND Robocop 2, but not nearly as much as Robo 1 & 3. Aside from the fact that Page Fletcher was somewhat small for the suit (painfull obvious at times), it wasn't bad at all.:techman:

I actually didn't mind R:PD but then again I knew the Executive Producer. True story: shortly after PD aired on Sci-Fi channel for the first - and only - time someone sent him a computer virus (no it was not me).
