First off, if this belongs in the Sports and Fitness forum, feel free to move it. Most similar threads were posted here in Misc so I'm starting it here.
I know it's a long shot, but has anyone here ever tried the Somae Health plan (http://www.somaehealth.com/)? It was recommended to me by my doctor, a fully certified physician. According to what I read about it, it seems like it's a really good plan, but I wondered if anyone else had tried it and what their results were. My doctor did it and dropped 45 pounds in three months; the average is supposed to be around 35 in that time period.
It's basically a "caveman" type of diet - no processed foods, but you can eat meat, fruit, vegetable, nuts, berries - any type of whole foods. You also take a hormone (or supplement) that is supposed to cause rapid weight loss (5-7 pounds a week). My doctor says it's safe and it obviously worked for him, he looks great.
The reason I'm looking to lose weight is because I just got my results back from my blood tests, and they aren't good. I was diagnosed last year with diabetes, and he says if I don't get them looking better, I'm going to have to go on insulin, which I do not want to do. I'm motivated to do this the way my doctor wants me to.
The only negative is the cost - $849 for a 3 month program, although once you get started you have the tools for life. Certainly it's a lot cheaper than the cost of insulin, medication, and even Weight Watchers in the long run. Not to mention the medical cost if I ever developed serious complications from it.
Anyway, I'm looking for feedback from people who have used this plan or know someone who has. Thanks!
