So, you're saying it's Star Trek.If you say so. But the fact remains that Bashir not recognizing TOS Klingons was all part of the joke, which completely went over the heads of the ENT writers who made that two-part episode, which then retconned Bashir into looking stupid.
So, you're saying it's Star Trek.![]()
That can't be!So, you're saying it's Star Trek.![]()
That bus is always ready to go for the sake of a gag. See Uhura in TUC.Well, I'm saying that they threw Bashir under the bus. Doubtful that it was deliberate, but that's what the end result was.
You brought up the bus, writers and gags. So it's now fair game.I'm not talking about Uhura, because she has nothing to do with how the Klingons looked, which is the subject of this thread.![]()
Sometimes not
You brought up the bus, writers and gags. So it's now fair game.
But lets talk about McCoy then. A guy who should also have access to data on Klingon physiology from Phox and his own scans in TTWT. Yet doesn't have a clue on how to save Gorkon.
And recognizes at least the basics to out Darvin so he knew something.Sometimes not

They weren't enemies when Earth captured Klaang. McCoy literally scans Darvin in TTWT and declares him a Klingon. Darvin was in Federation custody for years and no doubt other Klingons were as well. Ample time for Starfleet medical to build a database on the needs of Klingons. That's correct. He didn't have the medical knowledge at the time because the Federation and the Klingons were enemies. That should not have been the case by Bashir's time.

Again, it was not an area of medicine he studied. So why didn't Bashir know about how TOS Klingons looked?
Again, it was not an area of medicine he studied.
He admits not being a student of history so clearly he didn't care to look.Again, it was not an area of medicine he studied.

Or he's an idiot.
Take your pick.
Has Bashir ever indicated he has a keen interest in the history of the Klingon Empire? That he should know that Klingons looked like "greasy humans" in the past is also supposition. But that's just supposition. We don't know that. And logically, at the very least he should have known that Klingons once looked like greasy humans, whether he was a doctor or not. Certainly Dax would have known, so why not Bashir?
Weirdos.I'm a Beatles fan, I can go on for days about the Beatles. My coworker knows next to nothing about the Beatles.
