Tbh, I quite like what they did, and also what they intended to do with Calypso. It's comforting to know that things don't always get erased or just forgotten.
Don't forget they have to explain how trills can suddenly use Transporters with no problem. That was a major issue in the TNG episode reference to above as well. Transporter technology was deadly to the Trill host...When's this story coming?

I don't really need it explaining, but never will I bemoan a convoluted explanation. It's marks for effort, at the very least.
I could care less about it being explained. But I know what you mean, some fans NEED it, because there's a desire to make a fictional universe make sense. And that's ok, if it makes those people happy, I am all for it. Just, personally, I couldn't care.
It's not required to be explained until November 2042, twenty-five years and two months after the Disco Klingons were first introduced. After all Enterprise's explanation for the foreheads didn't come until February 2005, twenty-five years and two months after they were introduced in TMP in December 1979, which apparently makes it okay in the eyes of Fandom. Therefore those very same rules mean we aren't required an explanation until the same interval of time has gone by.
If there is still no explanation December 2042, then you can start complaining.
It was a 26 year gap back when we had 26 episode seasons. We have 10 episode seasons now so I'm expecting an answer 10 years after.
You really want to play that card? Does the fact there were no new episodes for eight years after TMP factor into your equations?
Regardless, if it's ten years after you expect an explanation, than that means we don't need an explanation until September 2027. So that's still no complaining allowed for a little under three years.
Yeah, but I'm still gonna complain. I've been spoiled by previous explanations, I expect more from Star Trek now.
Star Trek doesn't owe us any explanation.
Wouldn't it be great if Star Trek gave us more than the absolute bare minimum though?
