Anyone else annoyed that there are no TOS Klingons in SNW yet?

Don't need to see it, but I'd appreciate it if they didn't rule out the possibility of a refit. I haven't lost hope that they're going to pull an Enterprise and get the ship heading towards the other shows at the end.
I don't have the article unfortunately, but I remember reading somethings about an interview with Akica Goldsman, one of the production members... He said he "wants to drive this show right up into TOS's second pilot" which some of us know is the "first" episode chronologically (not including The Cage). Of course I doubt we'll get that far, but I am interested to see/think how that would turn out.

After Trials and Tribble-ations showed that the TOS Klingons looked different, it gave us one of the biggest mysteries that a prequel could've explored! Just because we know the real life reasons for a change, doesn't mean they can't or shouldn't come up with a fictional reason. When a character arrives or leaves it's typically written into the story. When they wanted to replace the Enterprise-D with a new ship, that was written into the story. If an entire race of aliens looks different and the characters notice, why not write it into the story?

When's this story coming?

Personally I'd be happier to forget the original episode ever happened, I think that's the most elegant way to resolve that blatant contradiction. But yeah, I'd totally want a story which explains why there are two completely different Trill that work completely differently please. Maybe the characters could be in a briefing talking about something much more interesting, and one goes "Perhaps these aliens we're dealing with in this episode have two separate branches of evolution, like the Trill".

It's a waste of time.

Not everything needs an in-universe explanation. DS9 should never have pointed out the differences.
I liked the Klingon Augment arc, but it was completely unnecessary.

That said, the modern TOS novels did try to give us a reason why Kirk kept running into them and not any ridged ones. The Klingons that still had ridges treated them as a second class citizens and put them on the frontier, and used them as cannon fodder.

No, what DS9 did was perfect. It was completely in-line with the episode, and if it was never brought up again, it would have been fine.

This was what was not necessary. A whole two episodes devoted to the completely unnecessary explanation as to why Klingons had no bumps on their heads? Which then effectively make both Bashir’s and O’Brien’s guesses correct despite Worf not wanting to talk about it?

WORF: They are Klingons, and it is a long story.
O'BRIEN: What happened? Some kind of genetic engineering?
BASHIR: A viral mutation?
WORF: We do not discuss it with outsiders.

It then also retroactively makes Bashir look like an idiot, because as a Starfleet doctor, he should have known everything that Phlox knew.

Every single Kurztman era show so far has made a point of showing the hero ship get restored to its original appearance in the finale, why mess with tradition?
I was wondering what you meant until I remembered the Discovery's defit, or unrefit, whatever your poison. What were the other ones?

Imagine maintaining visual continuity, just for the sake of a single Short Trek. Kurtzman must go, etc.

And who is to say we havent seen a TOS Klingon? They look human, so they could be anyone.

Here are all the answers:

Discovery: The ship's 23rd century appearance was restored for its secret Calypso mission.
Picard: The Enterprise-D was repaired and reverted back to its season 7 bridge.
Prodigy: The rusty old Protostar had to be put back exactly how they found it for time travel reasons.
Lower Decks: The Cerritos went all Sovereign-class, but turned back at the end.

I see it a bit less with LD, but DSC and PRO definitely leant on that preserving the timeline angle. I feel like most fans had written off the short trek that DSC was referencing, but it does show that someone was paying attention.
