Catching up on this thread has inspired me to watch an episode or two tonight. I disagree with the article about the show being too cheesy for new generations. That's part of the appeal.
I didn't like the finale but I think it could have been a lot worse. Still it's a shame they never did a movie (even a TV movie) a few years or more after the show ended. Would have been a great way to end on a better note (and take advantage of improving production standards such as HD and better CGI. :P).
I watched Cradle of Hope today. I liked the twist at the end with the box being empty. I have to wonder how long it will be before we see Xena's reputation start to change.
I find it kind of funny that the guy who wrote this went on to win multiple Emmy and WGA awards for working on The Sopranos, create Boardwalk Empire, which got him another WGA award, and a Golden Globe, and would get an Oscar nomination for his Wolf of Wall Street script.
Xena is fun, but it's not really the kind of show that gets people that kind of recognition.
