Any Xena:WP fans on the boards?

I love this next commentary, from her purposeful run-on sentences to the brief asides like "...and Xena kisses her gal pal as a wedding gift, 'as you do' ".

It's a long video but it is a compilation of 4 different videos.

Here's a shorter video revealing 9 "hidden" lesbians in Xena:WP.

I say "hidden" since I don't think they are all that obscure.

This videocommentator goes on in this 3rd vid about unmasking the gay icon that is Lucy Lawless.

I disagree with this part of her theory about "when" Xena and Gabrielle became a couple.

My theory is the intimacy began after Britannia and before Xena left for C'hin.

I can't find a stand- alone clip of the scene that sealed it for me, but here's the beginning from the previous video that makes me feel by this moment that had already crossed the frontier from friends to lovers.

And their chat after Xena went looking for her missing "bed" partner suggests their intimacy is more than physical.

Xena: "Oh. Gabrielle?"

-----------------------------------------------------------------
-----------

Gabrielle: "Hmm."

Xena: "Everything all right?"

Gabrielle: "Yeah-- fine. Just thinking. Hmm. Thank you."

Xena: "For what?"

Gabrielle: "You stuck by me through everything."

Xena: "Likewise, I'm sure."

Gabrielle: [Giggles] "I hope I never disappoint you, Xena."

Xena: "Impossible."

Gabrielle: "I've learned that anything is possible. There's somebody in the shadows by the poplar tree."

Xena: "I know."

Messenger: "Xena."

I think this is why Gabrielle was so upset at the start of "The Debt", when Xena decided to drop everything and go to C'hin.

That Xena would simply throw away their relationship to answer La Ma's call not only confused Gabrielle, but made her jealous.

Xena wasn't just throwing away a road trip partner; Xena was throwing away a part of her soul by dismissing her friend of 3 years and more recently her lover, Gabrielle.

A loyal woman that had recently followed her to Britannia where she not only lost her blood innocence but was psychically / sexually assaulted in Britannia by a demon because Xena was too distracted by her own vengeance to properly attend to her friend.

A broken woman who returned to Europe with Xena and discovered in the course of 1 day that she was not only pregnant but was about to deliver a fully grown child.

A distraught woman who (supposedly ;) ) killed her own child at Xena's insistence.

A woman who has done "everything" that Xena asked, who is now being tossed aside for a woman Xena hasn't seen in over a decade.

Now, that (post pregnancy/pre C'hin) was when they first became lovers. But when did they resume that aspect of their relationship?

Now maybe it's just me, but I think all the events surrounding The Debts may have poured some cold water on part of their relationship for a while.

How long?

Not sure, but the events surrounding Solon and Hope would definitely squash any flame of passion that might have resurfaced after "The Debts".

I'm thinking after "One Against an Army".

Can't talk about the Debt without adding the commentary tracks.

Part 1 (Part 2 video is the same as Part 1)

No commentary, just great scenes from the episode.

Lucy asks Rob why Lao Ma is so intrigued by Xena.

I agree w/ Rob. Lao Ma herself called Xena "her Warrior Princess". She needed a general to command her armies, and Xena would have fit the bill if she was ready to put away her dark side and work with her mentor for the greater good.

Love this next vid.

Rapid fire questions for Lucy...

I love this response and its follow-up to an impertinent question.

If not yourself, who would you most like to be?
Maggie Smith. Lady Grantham is my spirit animal. :techman:

How often do you have sex?
Withering gaze from Lady Grantham.

Another podcaster sits down with Lucy.

I love the juxtaposition in this next video of Gabby biting Xena's neck, followed by Xena kissing Gabs at the wedding.

^^ That scene where Xena is praying to God to save Gabrielle's light from going out. :wah:

As soon as I stop looking for that damned opening scene in the Debts, I find it (at 1:18) (next vid)

^^Gosh, how I love when Lucy sings in "The Bitter Suite".

They do love their hot tubs in this show, don't they?

^^I do agree that their karmas are intertwined. that's why I think the best reboot is to take these two into another incarnation, rather than just resume the same series. People talk about how TPTB should follow in the footsteps of those that rebooted Star Trek, but I disagree. I hated the 2nd movie with faux Khan and the reverse Kirk/Spock death scene. There was no emotion because THESE two characters (in NuTrek) hadn't created any emotion on their own. The only emotion found in that scene was from our collective memories of the original show.

This line, from the next video, illustrates my point.

I sing of the wrath of Callisto, the pain of Gabrielle and the courage of Xena and the ineffable mystery of a friendship as immortal as the gods.

^^ These two may not be immortal, but their love is.

Rob Tapert, THAT is the show that needs rebooting.
