Any mention of Data in post-Nemesis novels?

Quinto bears a startling resemblance to the young Nimoy. It's been widely commented on. People were noticing it well before he was cast as Spock.
They are wrong in the head though.

If that's a 'startling resemblance' then you may as well say that Meryl Streep, Kermit the Frog, and an inanimate carbon rod all look like Nimoy as well.

^Well, your opinion is very much in the minority on this point.

As much as I disagree with his (?) whining about much of the flick, I have to agree that I wasn't impressed with the resemblance. Quinto struck me as having much softer features than Nimoy. I found Pine a greater resemblance, and the guy who played McCoy.

But this is way way OT.

That's low. Shazam presented a wonderful comparison that shows how different they really look, and then you resort to the "you are in the minority, so your opinion has less value" strategy. And don't say you didn't say that, because that is exactly what your post implies.

^All I meant to say was that the perception that Quinto resembles Nimoy was not solely my own -- that Shazam's perception is merely an opinion. He seemed surprised by my mention of the resemblance, so I thought he might be unaware of the fact that many other people do indeed perceive it.

And I don't agree that his comparison showed how different they look at all. I think that even with the differences in hairstyle, pose, age, and expression, the resemblance between the men in those two photos is still quite strong. And if he'd selected his Nimoy photo more fairly -- i.e. one taken from the same angle and depicting Nimoy at the equivalent age (that one looks like it's from the '70s) -- I think the resemblance would be even clearer. I did, after all, specify Quinto's resemblance to the young Nimoy, i.e. the Nimoy of the early to mid-1960s.

Shazam deliberately chose two photos where their faces showed all the features, such as nostrils, chins, hairlines at different angles. A fairer comparison would be the two actors caught in identical poses, at which times I find the resemblance to be excellent.

What do you want more, those are full frontal shots of both faces. The tilt of Nimoy's head doesn't change that.

Of course any photo of a stubbly Quinto is going to amplify the differences. The comparison images still aren't being chosen fairly. And even so, the similarities in coloring, bone structure, and the shape of the nose, mouth, and ears are quite clear to me.

And nobody's saying they look exactly alike, of course. The point is that, of all the new cast members, Quinto bears the closest resemblance to the original. I'd say Yelchin is the second-closest. Urban and Pine are moderately similar to the originals, but they have the wrong eye colors, and Pine really only resembles Shatner in profile. Saldana and Cho bear only vague resemblances and Pegg and Greenwood aren't even in the ballpark.

OR... they are being chose fairly and they actually look nothing alike.

Fine. Someone else choose the images.

It's silly to argue about this as if it were a matter of provable fact. It's perception. It's opinion. There's no "actually" here. Different people perceive resemblance in different ways. We gauge it by different parameters. That's just human nature. If you don't see the resemblance and other people do, that doesn't make you right and them wrong, and it doesn't make them right and you wrong.

You don't have to agree with me or anyone else that Quinto looks like Nimoy. Just stop acting like it's somehow shocking or impossible that we could see it that way.
