Angel- Why no Love!

^That's what was awesome about it. You knew it was Illyria from Amy's acting. You didn't NEED the makeup to tell you which character she was playing at a given time.

Exactly my point, she was acting as a different character, and didn't have the look (the body armor, the blue skin and hair, etc...) to go with it, just the personality, and in most cases that can be hard if there's a completely different established look for the character. It'd be like Bruce Wayne going all Batman on someone, and not wearing the costume, different personalities technically, but yet it's the 'same' person (or at least the same actor). Does...that make sense?

Well, yeah, it makes sense. I guess I read it like you were somehow criticizing her, and I couldn't figure out why.

No, that wasn't my intent and if it sounded like that, oops, because I was very impressed that she was Fred one second and the Illyria the next without a 'costume change' IMO, someone that can shift their range like that without a cut away, scene change, etc... is a good actor/actress,

^Yay.

I know one thing (and I've already stated it this topic), I hated Connor with a passion, he was such a whiny bitch in season four. My favorite scene ever, is problem when Fred makes him feel comfortable and safe, etc... then suddenly zaps him with a taser,

Overall, I did like season four, as I also mentioned i am a sucker for arcs, but I had a few qualms with the storyline, number one at times, it feels like it's several different stories that somehow lead from one into another, rather then the tied arc that we'd be lead to believe by the end. Second, parts of the arc wrapped up to easily or anticlimactic (Such as Angelus killing the beast, because it was merely distracted by it's killing blow attempt against Faith), the awkward sense that Cordy was going all Evil and no one noticed anything strange (aside from the fact she was fucking Connor, which is just weird), but I'll give them props for this, they tried to give each character something to do, Wesley gradually comes back into the foray, being welcomed back as a part of the team, Fred gets some cool stuff to do (such as trying to survive on her own in a world hellbent on killing her), Gunn does prove to be a bit of a dick this season, but oh, well.

The earlier seasons were fun to, Glen Quinn...man, what a guy, Doyle was pretty cool, it sucked we lost him. I also liked Elizabeth Rohm's character somewhat (I wasn't to fond of her meanness to Angel, but I guess it was justified), and wished we had gotten to see more of her (I think I read that Elizabeth wished she could have stayed as well, but L&O offered better money)

I admit, some of Cordy's storylines were kind of lame, but then some were cool, her finale was pretty cool (wont spoil that one for those who hasn't seen it)

I also saw some episodes pretty comical and like them for it, there's parts of "Spin the Bottle" that I find hilarious ("*pats plant* So pretty...so imporant...")

Angel is Teh Awesome. It is the DS9 of the Buffyverse, IMO. Lurvs me some Buffy, but Angel does it better.

Yes, because the point was she was saying "You're a man, you must like sports" when in actuality (as far as I recall). Xander finds sports about as fun/interesting as a...well, imagine the most discomforting medical procedure possible, and that;s what he thinks of sports. In otherwords, for a Vengeance Demon who's been around for some time, she was being extremely shortsighted.

That was my problem with it - she spent a thousand years killing men in various hideous, violent ways for their supposed wrongs (and we only have her word and the word of the woman crying out for vengeance on that) yet she doesn't have the first clue about men at all.

Beyond that one line, her history of baseless misandry is never really looked back upon or criticised.

so do you guys like Vincent Kartheizer as Connor or as Pete Campbell? I know, 2 totally different characters, but still, both equally dirty rotten scoundrels.

He is absolutely brilliant as Pete in Mad Men. Apart from his return in S5, I never really cared for Connor, but Kartheiser's performance in Mad Men confirms that any problems with Connor in Angel were down to the writing, not the acting.

Finally finished season 4 and omg that was awesome and season 5 finally makes sense. As for those that dont know i fell in love with this show from watching season 5 a few years baack and finally got around to watching it from the beginning.

This is my fav show and how do i wish we get a movie or something even a spin off would be nice.

Wesley, wow to finally understand his heart break of Fred becoming Illyria when he pined for her for so long. To me he pretty much made the show and felt as part of it as angel did.

He was a torchered soul.

Though i missed Lindsey though but Lilah was pretty sweet.
Just more soul crushing for Wesley.

What more can i say, from monster of the week with Doyle Cordy and Angel to this epic storyline of Conner and Jasmine.

Weird as i knew how the story ends with season 5 but to watch how everything falls into place is almost better than watching it and not having a clue how it ends, you no what i mean?

Great great show. On par with Farscape an Supernatural as great shows.

Now is Buffy any good?

I don't know who Pete Campbell is. I just know that Conner is a whiny bitch.

Nothing else needs to be said here.

I also liked the minor bits of constancy on things, I don't know why, but it tickles me to see Angel running from the car to a building holding a coat over his head in season four. Just rings consistency to me.

Yeah, you definitely picked an interesting order to view these series!

I think Buffy is great, but it's such a different show. Plus, there are a lot of moments in Angel that are better having seen Buffy first, but oh well. The first season of Buffy is kind of rough, but luckily it's short. Seasons 2-3 are phenomenal. The rest is still great but to varying degrees.

I never could get into Angel until season 5...and I love BtVS.

I really need to re-watch Angel all the way through though before making a final judgement against it.

So Angel has alot of back story with Buffy? Hmm weird cause the only episode of Buffy i ever watched was the Buffy Final where Angel gives her that round thing. So was he a major part of Buffy? I thought Spike was the major part of that show and that Angel was just a few episodes.

Loved the humor of Angel. Rarely do i laugh so hard but Angel was fun. Loved in the episode where they bring Cordy back after she left the higher plane and was coming down the steps and Angel hurried up and hid his bottles of blood. That was so dam funny and so many other parts.

Angel was a regular on Buffy for two years. Some would say the show's best two years, although that's debatable.

^
It is.

I never cared for Angel that much...which made it hard to get into Angel(Series).

Spike came later, but Angel had a very important role in the first 3 seasons (well, second and third seasons...in the first season he was just sort of there). As did Cordelia. And Wesley was a main character for the bulk of Season 3.

You don't NEED Buffy to understand Angel, but it definitely helps provide a deeper a understanding of those 3 characters if you know where they came from.
