'Star Wars Fan Remasters And Project 4K77 (& 4K80 & 4K83) Explained':-
www.slashfilm.com/1519031/star-wars-project-4k77-fan-remaster-explained

'Hello Star Wars fans,

I wanted to take a moment to talk about project 4K, why 4K80 took so much longer than the other two, and where we go from here.

As you’ll know if you’ve been following these projects for a while, Team Negative One has been working on restoring the Star Wars Trilogy from 35mm film since around 2011. Before I joined the team in 2012, the team had already obtained some Empire Strikes Back reels, eventually enough to make up a more or less complete print, but these reels had Vinegar Syndrome, were very unevenly faded and blotchy, and while the “Renegade Grindhouse” release of The Empire Strikes Back was an historical moment, it’s real value was as a proof of concept. If we could find better prints, and upgrade our equipment, perhaps we could really do something great.

Well today, the circle is finally complete. 4K80 was released this morning. If you’re wondering “What took you so long?!” then read on.'

All credit, kudos and congratulations to everyone involved - and to all those who made it possible to get to this point. 'The circle is now complete' - or something... :)

The fans are doing the best work!

Posting this here because it's a fairly minor thing and not really relevant for the Bad Batch thread: I just finished re-reading 'Dark Disciple' in anticipation of Ventress's return, and in addition to the previously noted final page shenanigans, I came across something else which could (and I stress *could*) be interpreted as foreshadowing a resurrection.

For context (as if one couldn't guess) this is right when she seems to fully embrace the light side, moments before her death. It's probably a coincidence in the way that Golden chose to order the words, but the progression from death, to life, and to new chances down one path seems to fit perfectly with what appears to have gone down.

Also seems an apt description of the Magicks in Ahsoka with Thrawn's troopers.

That's a nice catch, that does seem like it could take on a new context now that we know she's coming back.

The upcoming Black Series 6" Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala, both based on Episode I to help celebrate that film's 25th Anniversary, alongside the artwork from their respective boxes.

Is it just me, or does the Padme portrait look a little . . . off?
Is this one of those cases where they don't have the full rights to the actor's likeness anymore and have to make the thing legally distinct? Or maybe for some reason they decided to photoshop out the puppy fat in her cheeks from the reference photos? Something weird going on with the eyes too.

Probably just the Hasbro sculpting and Real Photo face technology and the limitations. The Padmé based on Episode II looks more like Natalie Portman and that figure is more than four years old.

I love those sculpts and really wish I was in the position to switch to 6" vs. my current 3.75" work. The Black Series has really got a lovely set of figures.

I wasn't talking about the sculpt, I was talking about the portrait. The figure looks fine, but the picture looks like they tried photoshopping Matilda's face onto Padme's head, but accidentally moved all the features up a little too far . . . which is often what it looks like when you superimpose a face onto a head that are positioned/photographed from a slightly different angles from each other.
I wonder if this is just an artistic misfire, or are they genuinely trying to make her look 14 like she was intended to be instead of the 16/17 that Portman was when they shot the movie?

By contrast, the Jake Lloyd portrait looks flawless.

I was wondering if it's based on concept art from the film.

Well, they did shut down Star Tours and did a complete revamp some years ago, and part of the benefit of switching to a digital instead of film system was that they could shuffle several different ride-stories together, and add in new ones.
