Spoilers All Things STAR WARS - News, Speculation & Spoilers Thread

Next month the Star Tours rides at Disney World, Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris will be adding planets and characters from Ahsoka, Andor, and The Mandalorian. They last updated them to add Kef Bir from The Rise of Skywalker.
I didn't realize they updated the rides like that, I thought they pretty much stayed the same unless they shut them down and did a complete revamp.

With Star Tours, it's really just a software issue, not nearly that involved (other than producing the scenes, of course.) They revamped the ride in 2011, giving us the "modern" version. Since then, they have added several scenes from the Sequel Trilogy. Now they're adding what sounds like 3 new scenes. (I hope.)

Now they're adding in more, thank goodness.

One can only hope Smuggler's Run isn't too far behind and they (finally) add a new mission to that ride!

Poster, and June 4th release date for 'The Acolyte' has been unveiled; also trailer incoming tomorrow apparantly.

I have to say the imagery is a little more graphic than I'm used to for Star Wars marketing materials, but points for an original way to show a red blade without actually showing a red blade. Also; between the design of the hilt and the whole stone aesthetic, it's almost giving me weirdly 'Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight/Outcast/Academy' vibes.

I'll be curious to see is the trailer will be the same show at celebration last year or something new. Probably the latter since that was all early footage with IIRC next to no VFX work (if any.)

Finally. A CLEAN R2-D2 on a Vintage Collection cardback and not the muddy, dirty, sand-covered one we got in 2019. This will have the same number, though, with VC149 and it's just replacing the dirty paint job with a clean one.

Because Hasbro.
Well I imagine also because the actual prop always looked like it had been kicked down the stairs and dragged backwards through a trash heap all afternoon. In nine movies that character was "clean" twice for like 12 seconds apiece. He is a mechanic, after all! ;)

Honestly it always struck me as funny how most Artoo and Threepio toys are usually made to look immaculate, when that was not how the characters looked 98% of the time. Not just the dirt either, but all of the dents and asymmetry too.

Plus the original 1978 Kenner R2-D2 on which the Vintage Collection figure packaging is heavily based was a clean action figure with no damage or dirt deco, just a prisitine, white, black and blue wraparound sticker and most R2s released since don't come with dirty paint deco.

Mine didn't stay pristine for long!
Indeed, mine was a hand-me-down, so in my mind, that toy always exists as slightly yellowing, with frayed edges on the legs, faded sticker, peeling in one corner, and scuffed and scratched chrome. Just like the real Artoo. ;)
