All Good Things

They would have had to pay extra for that. Me thinks Terry Farrell's departure wasn't the most amicable parting of ways.

^ They should have shelled out to pay her. I mean, I wasn't all up about the idea of the montage anyway, but to go ahead and then not feature her just seemed a bit cheap to me.

I think DS9's ending was fitting for the show. Very melodramatic, the way the show was (and this is not intended as an insult lol)

AGT was an excellent ending to finish TNG, since it singlehandedly included all the good things about TNG (the comfort level of the show, the characters we'd gotten to know, the science quotient, and of course, the best TNG villain).

Voyager's ending on the other hand, tricked us because it gave us a fake ending, then pulled it away and said "hah hah suckers!! that was a fake ending, I'm not gonna show you the real one, nyah nyah!". This is why that ending felt so dry.

Its been ages since I've seen this, despite repeats of the series on satellite and cable. I reckon it would hold up for a repeat viewing.

What I liked about it was that it was all about the main characters, Q being there to wrap up the whole seven series from beginning to end and remind us what the crew were trying to do all along.

It was a nice touch to see how everyone split up but still managed to find what made them work as a crew again in the end.

And yes, that last few minutes, when Q bids Picard farewell in the middle of the anomaly was great, more gripping than any other action scene in TNG.

Frankly, its the best possible finale TNG could ever have hoped to have. Its perfect - couldn't have imagined a better end, myself.

I agree 100% - that is why the TNG theatrical films were so unsatisfying to me. TNG was wrapped up with a perfect send off.....then they had to say, "No it wasn't, let's continue the saga with craptastic movies that destroy the merits of AGT because we are greedy. Hey, let's kill off the old coot Kirk while we're at it so we can be the only movie game in town."

Ugh. :rolleyes::klingon::vulcan::cardie::(:scream::confused:

AGT was an outstanding finale, one of the best episodes of TNG in my opinion, and I got the feeling it was widely regarded as excellent among fans, apparently not!

How anyone can dislike the poker scene at the end is beyond me, there couldn't have been a more perfect last scene!

Because it's become trendy to pick on TNG because it's not DS9 or nuBattle Star Galactica (which is a show I like, but for totally different reasons than I like TNG). If a show doesn't have skinny bitches beating up men with their pinkies, or people slapping each other around, or having mad wild sex in bunkers, it's not a good TV show anymore

I was browsing this website and found alot of people seem to think All Good Things was the best season ending and the DS9 ending was the worst.

...and that End Game as bad.

I actually think End Game was the best, sure they should have had another two eps showing them at home.

But AGT was:

-A stupid plot (an anomaly paradox...come on!)
-The time travel was depressing (in spite of the cool ships the upgraded Enterprise D and the Pasture)

I can name dozens of better episodes so I'm dying to know why people like this one so much?

Hmm I just disagree all around. I think Endgame was kind of a cheap, time-travely ending to a very clustered story-arch. The Next Generation had a really good series finale, and it was entertaining-- ending with Q the way the series began. DS9 was, for me, the best series finale leading into really fantastic relaunch novels.

good point

I agree. Though, as I love FC, I'd keep that and ignore the rest.

So FC could've been seen as a reunion movie, you know?

I agree with all of this. I loved the final episode. When I heard TNG was going to be ending I thought to myself that I'd want a Q bookending episode with some time travel element but dismissed it as never going to happen. But it did! For a long time I must confess to not being mad keen on Picard turning up at the poker game. The reason for this is that Picard is not my favourite character (he's not my least favourite, either) and much of TNG (obviously) revolved around him. The poker games were scenes when the other characters got their moments in the spotlight without him. Still, over the years I've mellowed and now I like that moment, too.

I think All Good Things is one of the best episodes of Star Trek in general personally.

Absolutely OUTSTANDING episode. It had everything, and involved all the characters.

The time travel/theory behind the episode was 10x more intelligent, complex and thought provoking than 99% of the other time travel episodes in Trek.

I never liked AGT--I didn't like the time travel, I didn't like the answer to it all at the end, I didn't like the future selves of the characters--esp Data, I didn't like Denise Crosby coming back, and I didn't like Picard joining the poker game at the end.

I'm kind of curious--what DID people like?

The time travel, the answer at the end, the future/past selves, Denise Crosby coming back, and Picard joining the poker game at the end.

For the fans who just don't like time travel episodes that much, I'm sure it was a letdown.
