Alien, Predator, AvP (news)

I think the bioweapon suits the xenomorph mainly due to xenomorph having a biomechanical aesthetic (which also matches the architect of the derelict ship) to it. I always thought of the xenomorphs being an advanced form of synthetic so I am utterly against Hawley's vision of the xenomorphs being a naturally occurring organism. Why else would all the synthetics (besides Call, Walter and Andy) have a keen interest in the xenomorphs?
I can accept the Xenomorphs being a bioweapon (if a poorly designed one given they don't seem to have an off switch) but I think Hawley is right on the "created half an hour ago" comment though, that does bug me, though I suppose it's possible that the Engineers created the Xenomorphs thousands of years ago and now David/the humans/blind chance is just kinda recreating them? That might be the intention all along.

That appears to be the implication of the Covenant novelization as well as the mural in Prometheus. Now we don't exactly see the Xenomorphs as we knew them in that mural, but we do see something that looks like the Deacon and something that resembles a facehugger. Some think we see part of a queen or egg-laying structure above the Deacon.
I don't expect the general public to be swayed much by novelizations and the like, but the mural seems to indicate that the Engineers have been at this sort of thing for a long time.

That could make sense.
Maybe the "Ignore" Promethieus is that it hasn't happened yet, so there is no black goo, etc.
I think it's more than just the black goo, it sounds like they're going to be ignoring the whole backstory established in Prometheus.

I always thought the xenomorphs evolved beyond their kill switch, similiarly I always believed that the Queen was a later evolution in the xenomorphs's continuing evolution to evolve-beyond-their-programing and also I always thought the xenomorphs existed millions of years ago. Since the Derelict crashed 4 million years (read somewhere) prior to the original ALIEN movie.

Torrens has the bunk room on the other side :D

My read (and the original idea in “Covenant” before Scott decided to make it ambiguous in the final cut) is that David was basically trying to breed dogs back into wolves, and the “classic” Xenomorph was the original creature the others (and the black goo) was derived from.

Not just convergent evolution but convergent directed evolution.

I imagine deacons to be a default form perhaps.

David’s Praetomorph seems a step backwards as the Neomorph spores seem a much better way to infect hosts, though the final product isn’t armored.

1979’s Big Chap may have been borne by either Space Jockey type:

David and the Predators before him likely were quite creative…

Personally, I would rather Scott finishes his Prometheus/Covenant/*third movie trilogy instead of making a sequel to Romulus, and have Alvarez continue with the Romulus storyline.

I want someone to adapt the Rage War. Alter it with David being the main antagonist and you have the perfect story to end the franchise with.

Hm..... I see what you mean but there's so much going on in those novels, that it would be difficult to cut it to something for a movie.

It would be a loose adaptation. I don’t imagine them including the Yautjas to the story.
All they need to copy is the basic premise of the story. What if someone actually managed to turn the Xenomorphs into a weapon and they turned them against Earth.

That could work. One could even imagine the devastated Earth in Resurrection being the end result of David's attack.

Bring back Ripley, David and Walter in one movie.
Make it a Love Triangle to up the drama.
Include Yautjas.
Win.
