AICN Posts a new version of the trailer!

What was the point of holding the Nimoy scene out of the initial release? I figured having some kind of shot with him in it would have been mandatory for any trailer. Having him in the film is kind of a big deal after all.

Because they are trying to attract a whole new generation. If people who don't like Star Trek watched the first trailer, they'd go "Damn, sweet action flick" but if nimoy appeared they'd all groan and see Old Star Trek and roll their eyes.

THis Spock cameo was for the fans.

And as fuckin awesome as this version of it is, the timing is WAY off, I like the first better. Still kicksass to see Nimoy though :D

Seeing Leonard Nimoy in this trailer puts it over the top for me.

May couldn't get here soon enough!!

I wish I could have seen this version on the big screen.

"Cleanup in Theatre 11!"

I love the fact they kept the red alert sound fx. Little stuff like that keeps my spirits high and brings me back. Nimoy looks great as spock again. It's nice to see an old friend.

Well they stuck the Nero 'the wait is over bit' earlier in the trailer and that felt a touch out of place there.

I think the cheesy bit with Anakin T. Kirk and the dominatrix is more off-putting than old Nimoy and the Vulcan salute.

Ah, but it replaced the damn duct tape shot ("damned" because of all the whinging it caused, not because I actually care about the duct tape). If only this had been the first version released... if only...

Either way, thanks to the magic of computers, I'll edit up my own definitive version. Or, to be less pretentious, I'll stick the Nimoy shot over the end of the first trailer, because I don't give a crap about losing Nero's line.

Naw not that, the entire pacing of it. Again another time pandering to the fans kinda screws with things. I love the trailer and seeing Nimoy, but I am glad the first one is the official in theatre version. It's so much more dramatic and paced very smoothly.

Well, there goes the Photoshop award for whatever caption contest I choose to use the original one in.

Dominatrix?

I must have missed that part.

Yeah... I think I missed that part too......?

Maybe he/she is refering to the Orion seducing Kirk???
(though it looks the other way around to me.)

(or maybe there's a porno version out already... "Star Trek: The Rape of Someone's Childhood")

>snicker< :p

It took me a second, but I think to "Dominatrix" is the cop. Because anyone dressed in black is into BDSM.

He's cousin Selek, come back to advise young Spock once again! :) I wonder why there's no credit for a sehlat at imdb?

I wonder, if Abrams felt that showing Nimoy as Spock in the theatres would deter potential viewers, as some are suggesting, why bother putting him in the movie at all?
The (first) trailer was created for the Bond-going movie audience. Adding Spock is not going to deter potential viewers but bring in more of an audience. It's how the story is.
Also, if you hate Star Trek that much that you cannot stomach exposure to Leonard Nimoy, maybe Star Trek, regardless of how it is modified or rebooted, isn't for you. Why try selling the product to people like this?
Do we, as life long Trek fans have a hold or say on Trek in a special way or something? Why can't we look beyond the narrow and let the Trek universe expand?

I didn't see any life long Batman fans complaining like a broken record that Henry Ducard was the one and same person as Ra's Al-Ghul. Or that Two-Face in TDK was not created by throwing acid to his face but by getting burned by petrol. Or that Lt. Gordon didn't have any red haired daughter but actually two sons? Or that Batman was wearing a high-tech hardening cloth for a cape? Or that Joker didn't use the acid-spitting coat flower?

If anything, the success of TDK laid completely on the fact that it was a masterpiece of a movie, whose implications has made DC change the way Batman comics are being written. Next year they'll have a complete reboot on the Batman mythos which closely follows Begins. How has Begins or TDK been bad for the Batman franchise?

So why can't Star Trek be given a meager chance to be the great thing that rejuvinates the franchise? Why can't Star Trek have its own Batman Begins or TDK?

Sat through the new trailer...

Drank a beer..

Saw it again...

Drank another Beer...

And Now I know...

Old Spock is proof that God loves us...
