Spoilers AHSOKA series [Spoiler Discussion]

So, my two cents....

I really loved this show. A great blend between scifi and fantasy. As Star Wars has been for me.
The callbacks to both Rebels and The Clone Wars were perfectly handled in my opinion, with Hayden really being the best Anakin he ever could be. Seeing some behind the scenes stuff, you see he really understands both Anakin AND Vader and that enhanced his performance deeply. And it was a prime example of what happens when actors are working with directors who understand directing. George Lucas is a great visual storyteller and it shows, but he can't work with actors. Now Anakin is so much layered and nuanced. The hint at the end that we may see more of Anakin as a force ghost with Ahsoka if there is a second season makes me very happy.

Now, sure.... Some things are left in a way that make me think 'I dunno'.
Mostly, Thrawn's return to the galaxy. You'd think this would lead to something pretty big. Yet nothing during the sequels hints at a major conflict between the fall of the Empire and the rise of the First Order. So I'm really curious to see where this goes. Will it turn out that Thrawn eventuelly gave birth to what becomes the First Order? TROS seems to indicate that it was Palpatine all along. Or perhaps while recovering, Palpy becomes aware of Thrawn's return and sets things in motion behind the scenes to aid Thrawn for a while and then remove him from the board?

What saddens me the most, is that IF we get a season two, Ray will not be back to give us one hell of a character. I am still very curious where this plotline will go, but I can't imagine who could fill his shoes. I've heard some fans saying that Liev Schreiber could be an option.

The biggest change is that Thrawn and Ezra are trapped in the Unknown Regions rather than some other galaxy, and I've got a story mechanism to make that work.
But if you're in the Unknown Regions and you have a starship, you're not really trapped, are you?

I'm not a big fan of "Ahsoka", but I have to be honest . . . I'm just not into fanfiction re-writes of established productions. Although the idea of re-writing the Sequel Trilogy sounds appealing to me, in the end, my motto is "just leave it alone, form your opinion of it and move on".

I don't mind AU fanfiction.

It's not like the ST really gave us anything in the way of details about the state of the galaxy, or what's been going on these past 30-odd years. Most of what we know of that period comes from other media, and even then, there's basically a 20 chunk of time where *anything* could have happened and been long over by the time the Fist Order shows up.

No, the faction that will become the First Order already exists and it's history has mostly been established. We literally saw Hux's old man on the Shadow Council holo-group chat with Gideon.

I have to say the latest trailer for the series is pretty good -- it incorporates PT and ST clips, including Yoda's dialogue to Luke about masters from VIII, mixed with Ahsoka footage.

Yes, what will become the First Order, and one of Thrawn's men was in that council as well. Forgot the name, but the character was connected to Thrawn. Could mean that eventually Thrawn himself will be involved in it.

Yeah, Pellaeon was there mostly just cheerleading Thrawn's return (presumably Morgan Elsbeth's Imperial frontman?) Remember though that Hux's faction are mostly out in the Unknown Regions with the Eclipse, so they can just sit back and watch Thrawn get on with it without coming out of the shadows themselves. So when he goes down, it'd be like they were never even there.
We don't know much about the other factions except one of them is playing pirate and getting fat off the spoils, but given we know the limited but formidable resources Gideon was able to command, and how he was staying hidden, it's a safe bet that most of the others were in a similar situation.

With Captain Pelleon fronting for him, Thrawn will have eyes on the Shadow Council and will likely scoop up Moff Gideon's assets, including his cloning work and Dark Troopers. With Pelleon's Star Destroyer(s) and MG's cruisers, he"ll scoop up the loyal remnants first and browbeat the other warlords into joining him.

Are we mixing up Disney canon and Legends here? If the Eclipse you refer to is Palpatine's SSD from Dark Empire, it doesn't exist in the new canon, does it?
I genuinely don't know what the Eclipse is supposed to be in the new canon.
It's in canon, but it's not that silly thing from DE; it's just the name of Palpatine's personal SSD; same design as the Executor. So far it's only showed up in the Aftermath books, as the ship that was waiting at the rendezvous for those selected to retreat from Jakku. One assumes Palpatine kept it off the books and thus, the New Republic doesn't know it exists.

Thank you.

That sounds way better than the EU one.
