Spoilers AHSOKA series [Spoiler Discussion]

And attacking Filoni.

No, I didn't "attack Filoni", I criticized his work. That's a very important distinction that most grown-ups are capable of making.

If you're an artist putting yourself out there in the public space, it goes with the territory. Creating and criticizing art is a fundamental part of the human existence.

Again, I didn't insult anyone here or make unwarranted comments about any individuals, even the apparently precious and delicate Dave Filoni.

Let's try to behave like adults, yes?

Not tonight.

Tonight I'll just say, "good luck. "

In the comics there was some sort of lightsaber rifle that essentially fired lightsaber bolts like a sniper rifle. Though it could burn up a lightsaber if used too often.

Was it kinda like Ezra's lightsaber in the early seasons of Rebels?

No. It was more like you loaded a lightsaber into a sniper rifle and the lightsaber was the cartridge.

There was another version that was banned by the Jedi Order that used lightsaber technology to make a Farkiller, a sniper rifle that could kill at hundreds of kilometers away.

It pisses you off because I insulted a show you like? Seriously?? Grow up!

You should probably stay indoors, life is clearly too much of a challenge for you.
I have social anxiety and am possibly on the autism spectrum, so I do stay in doors and life, at least when it comes to dealing with other human beings life is very much a challenge for me. I have literally gone multiple days where I have only interacted in with our dogs, the horses I visit on my bike ride, and my mom who I live with. Posting on here and commenting on Instagram posts are often the only interactions I have with other people besides my mom. The only other people I interact with on a semi regular basis are the ladies who own the horses I visit, and honestly, if they didn't have the horses, I probably wouldn't talk to them beyond the occasional good morning.
And yes, if I was given the choice, I would always pick spending time with a horses or dogs over spending time with people.
I was struggling last night to find a way explain my approach to conversations on here, but I finally figured it out. I come here more to just discuss the events of the episodes, and not necessarily to analyze them. Yes, I do a little analysis, but it's mostly just I liked it or didn't like it.
And it's not really criticism itself that bothers me, it's the intensity and viciousness that gets me.
I'm fine with "I really didn't like this or this" what bothers me is the constant "this is the worst thing in the franchise", " the person who writes this is horrible and ruining the franchise" and things like that. That's where it's starting to feel like it's just getting unnecessarily mean.
This thread, and bbs in general, is much better when you use the ignore function to it's fullest potential :) Don't engage the stupidity at all.
My problem with ignore is I'm still seeing other people's responses to the ignored person, and it bugs when I don't know what they're responding to.
Well if you see any, you will be sure to let us all know! ;)

Yeah, that's probably been the most confusing part of all of this. On the one hand I get that he's prohibitively expensive for a TV budget to have him as a recurring character (though supposedly one of the kids on 'Skeleton Crew' is playing a CG performance capture type character?) but why go to the expense of giving him a cameo in Mando of all things and not Ahsoka? It's possible Dave felt that if he couldn't give Zeb the screen time and attention he deserves with the old Ghost crew, best to just leave him out of it for now. They could also have something else in mind for his character on the horizon, but we'll have to wait and see on that one.
Yeah, the lack of Zeb was really weird, especially after he already had the cameo in The Mandolorian.
Also, I'm generally disappointed in the trend that so much backstory and side story is left to ancillary material. Who is Shin, were does she come from? I want to know.

Even more crucially, what was it that Thrawn was fighting, what did all that damage to his men and their ship? I'm concerned that since his Star Destroyer is back in the main galaxy, we might never find out—except in the ancillary material.
From the way this ended it looks like their hoping to continue the series, so there's a pretty good chance we could get answers to some of those questions in Season 2 if it happens.
That's very true. I would say that as a fan I want to be informed because I like SW, ST, etc...so I watch it.
For me, if I want to stay informed about what's going on but I don't want to read the book/comic, watch the show/movie, play the game, ect. I'll just look on Wikipedia or a franchise specific wiki to find a synopsis or character bios or things like that to fill me in.

And also this. There is no demand to keep up on everything.

Not sure why it's taken me this long to make this connection, but I think I finally understand something that's been niggling at the back of my brain ever since the 'Rebels' finale; What's the deal with Sabine's armor design in the coda?
As you can see below they altered her design each season, and while there are indeed some significant changes (boots, gloves, gauntlets, pauldrons, belt, etc), both the chest piece's geometry and the pattern itself remains consistent; the only change is essentially a pallet swap. (For the record: Hera only got a texture change for the coda, while Zeb didn't get any changes at all.)
So then why for the coda did they go to the extra trouble of creating an entirely new chest piece AND an entirely new design for all of two scenes instead of just another pallet swap?
The new design is a curiosity in and of itself. When I first saw it I just took it as an abstract Mandalorian design interpreted in Sabine's own personal style and colours . . . which it still is, but I think I just twigged as to what the underlying symbolism is meant to be: The new armor geometry shows that not only has she grown into a more complete version of herself, but she's actively reforged what defines her, figuratively & literally. As for the design itself: it's meant to emulate the lines of classic Jedi robes. Just look: -

Padawan Sabine has been right in front of us since 2018.

Side note: the model sheet for the 'Sabine E' asset includes a new paintjob for the jetpack. So it's omission from that scene (and by extension this show) was a conscious choice, not an oversight.
Was it kinda like Ezra's lightsaber in the early seasons of Rebels?
It was exactly like this. Basically a laser rifle you plug a lightsaber into, that can blast a person sized hole in just about anything at very long range.

Well despite never watching Rebels or Clone Wars I rather enjoyed that. Nice characters, cool lightsabre duels, zombie Stormtroopers... Looking forward to S2
Sums it up nicely.

Ahsoka was the character that kept me going. I don't find Thrawn interesting (he never really has been of interest to me) so the idea of Ahsoka's quest turning as much as an inward journey towards her own "self-actualization" is far, far, far and away more interesting to me than Thrawn's victory.

Ahsoka had the victory. It was her growth. And that willingness to grow and change, rather than run back to the old (As the Empire would be, as Palpatine would offer up. Hell, even what the New Republic offers), will benefit her in the long run.

Time to look at a rewatch.

Just finished a rewatch of the finale and noticed something: the droid manning the bridge who warns Thrawn that the Jedi shuttle is in pursuit: CLEARLY inspired by Dark Forces 2 8t88 if you take a close look.

It reminded me more of the Death Star Droid but I might have to relook.

I don't know; looking at them side-by-side I'm not seeing much of a resemblance between the Star Navigator droid and 8t88 beyond a general spindliness and asymmetrical eyes. The design looks more that a cross between an RA-7 and a KX droid to me.

I'd be down with lightsaber rifles if lighsabers were used as classic projectile ammo.

Does anyone remember if there's an in-universe reason why imperial rifles lost the ability to fry Mandos inside their beskar?

That was a special energy generator weapon that could ignite beskar (and thus cook the Mandos inside). It was designed by Sabine. She destroyed the prototype and plans when she left the Academy. Then, when the Imperials tried to remake her design to fight the Mandalorian Rebels, she destroyed it again and killed ones doing the work (well blew up the Star Destroyer they were operating out of). It was a short ranged lightning style weapons they had rigged to a mech that looked like it was out of Battletech. It could also be rewired to cook Stormtrooper armor, but Bo-Katan and Sabine decided to destroy it rathey than keep it around, since it could still be used against Mandalore.

Okay, I couldn't help myself. I'm currently re-writing Ahsoka, attempting to take the broad storyline and characters and remake it into a more cohesive and logical narrative. The biggest change is that Thrawn and Ezra are trapped in the Unknown Regions rather than some other galaxy, and I've got a story mechanism to make that work. The 'map mc'guffin' is getting worked over so it actually makes sense, and is tied in to the old Jedi Temple on Lothal rather than some old Dathomiri temple. Wait, what's that? The temple is destroyed? Well, we'll just see about that. ;) That'll smooth over the WBW stuff as well, which I'm going to work in against my better judgement. Actually, in this case, I think it actually works better than Ahsoka's NDE- it'll be a part of a shared temple experience with Ahsoka and Sabine, more along the lines of what happened to Kanan and Ezra, and it's all tied to getting the map key. It's much more Rebels Season V than the show we got, and Zeb is included from the beginning. The matter of Sabine's past Jedi training with Ahsoka gets fair treatment as well, so Sabine doesn't suddenly pop as a 'magic Jedi' when the time comes. I'm at 14000 words and going strong, and in the next couple of days I'll begin posting it in chunks in the fan fiction forum for anyone who is interested. It'll probably be novella length or so by the time I'm done. I'm writing this as a sort of canon-legends hybrid, but that part is pretty transparent- you won't really notice it. It's a self-contained story that technically serves as a lead-in to Zahn's "Heir to the Empire", so it won't be open ended. All story threads and character arcs will resolve by the end. Just for shits and giggles, eh? What the hell. I am one with the Force, and the Force is with me!

EDIT: And, it's on!
