Spoilers Agents of SHIELD- The Final Season Discussion

Maybe this was how the whole Probe thing got started meaning they were always destined to tell the probe story. Also were is Piper? Is she off with Fitz?
IIRC Piper was last seen taking a wounded Flint away in a quinjet. Presumably they were both scooped up by Fitz's side of whatever operation he and Simmons are running...but that could just as easily be the last we ever see of either of them since (unless I missed something) they haven't been so much as mentioned this season.

I wish they would bring Davis back from the dead and do a whole episode of just Piper and Davis doing something and they find their way back to the main characters.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that we will see Piper again, which is a relief. I wish she was with the rest of the party, but that's better than nothing.

I think you're conflating the dark room where Future Guy appeared that never looked as cool as it did in the pilot with the white void where Trip and T'Pol psychically bickered in their dreams in season 4.
I think he's thinking of the Sphere Builders, who we did see talking to each other in a white void.

This episode was a lot of fun.
I'm a huge Agent Carter fan, so I really enjoyed Sousa's appearance.
The big robot vs robot fight with Coulson and the Chronicom was cool. Seeing Coulson with actual superpowers is pretty cool.
I think we got even more funny then vs now moments in this one than we did in the first two episodes.
Simmons pretending to be Peggy Carter was pretty good.
I'm looking forward to seeing where they end things with Sousa next week. I could definitely see them taking him with them.

I was thinking earlier today about how I'd want to see the show end. The big thing for me is that I really think Coulson should die one last, true, final death. The show started with Coulson being brought back from the dead, so having him die once and for all would be a perfect way to counter that.
Since Coulson seemed to be setting Daisy up to take over S.H.I.E.L.D., I would love to see Mack step down and for her to take over.
I would love to see Fitz and Simmons married by the end.

I double checked on the MCU Wiki pages for Simmons, and it said Fitz was only her husband in the alternate timeline.

I think so, it just said (alternate timeline) after it listed Fitz as her husband in the section for family.

I think Simmons is a robot and her and the real Fitz died years ago and she and a new robot Fitz have been carrying on in different locations. But more advanced than the LMD to the point you can't tell they aren't human.

They could be in stasis.

But it really does feel like Gemma wants to say that the others were asleep for 4 thousand years, but can't exactly get it out.

I suspect the reason is mostly contractual. They were very deliberate at the end of season 6 to put Piper and Flint "on a bus" and to establish Fitz is off somewhere else. Presumably they knew ahead of time De Caestecker would be unavailable for the first stretch of filming, and the actors that play Piper and Flint are only recurring and guest roles respectively.

If they upgraded Piper to to a series regular then they'd have to up Briana Venskus's pay-scale, which means either convincing ABC she's worth the extra expenditure (good luck with that on a show that's on it last season), or taking the money from elsewhere...and given it's the last season, they probably want that extra cash to pay for a few familiar faces to make a brief come back...

I thought they did finally manage to get married, but have barely been able to be together since?
They did, but then he died in the season 5 finale. This version of Fitz is the one that froze himself but never made it to the future. They directly addressed this in season 6 when he said "I missed my own wedding!" to which Gemma replies "you just haven't had yours yet!"

That said; Simmons has been very cagey about exactly how long it's been for her between reuniting with Enoch in the lighthouse and showing up to save May in the nick of time. I suspect it's more on the order of months, if not years so it's possible they went and got hitched again off-screen.

The predestination probe paradox.

JD figured it out. It was the Sphere Builder people in a white room with no black curtains.

Thanks. That's been driving me crazy. :rommie:

I enjoyed this episode a lot. The "Blade Runner" reference had me in stitches. Funny thing, the title, "Alien Commies from the Future". There actually is a comic character who fits that to a "T", but he's DC.

Yeah, that all makes sense. Just a bummer is all.

Honestly, given the time-hopping format they're going for this season they'd have a job to fit her in even if she was a regular. They're already kinda struggling to give May and Yo-Yo something interesting to do and so far the episodes have been very action-adventure with not a huge amount of pause for character interaction (so far at least) so I think Piper would easily get a little lost in it all. Better to save her for when they have something interesting for her to do.

Yeah, that's fair.

On the other hand, I have to suffer Deke in all of his Deke-ness. Replace him with Piper!

Yeah, yeah, I know, they serve two different purposes so it's not a simple one-for-one replacement.
