Spoilers Agents of SHIELD- The Final Season Discussion

It's possible they are stopped when Coulson LMD is able to make peace with a sterling speech, robot to robot and then he leaves with them to be their new leader. Meanwhile everyone else goes to the present to find the timeline is normal except one change. Real Coulson is back to life! Rayna is as well and is now in charge of Hydra and they got to stop her.

This episode just made me miss "Agent Carter" all the more! :sigh:
I always enjoyed more Agent Carter more than Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (in some ways; the shows are too different to directly compare), so having Daniel Sousa and a fake Peggy Carter made me feel... really odd, and rather nostalgic. When we left Peggy was barely getting anybody but Sousa to take her seriously, she wasn't automatic high credentials entry for impostors into Area 51. Simmons going inside as her... made Jemma seem phony, even if she's S.H.I.E.L.D.'s finest. That was a bold move. Sousa catching her is my favourite moment of both shows, I guess. :guffaw:

I've been rewatching Agent Carter on Disney+, in anticipation of this episode. I like it even better the second time around (not a guarantee when I revisit stuff). Too bad they couldn't get Hayley Atwell back (tiniest sliver of hope she can be there next week).

Good to see Sousa again (and presumably for at least one more episode), although I think it's a bit sloppy of our heroes, with all their knowledge (at least Coulson and Simmons) of the SHIELD history, that they didn't know Sousa worked at Area 51 at that time, which would've made the Peggy cover a stupid move. Don't get me wrong, it was fun to watch Simmons pretend to be her and then caught by Sousa so quickly, but come on. Coulson is such a history nerd and clearly admires both Peggy and Sousa but he didn't think this through.

Nonetheless, this was a fun episode and the climatic battle felt properly dramatic (in an endgame season with time hopping, anything is possible...). I loved how Mack handled Michael Gaston's character (who is always a treat wherever he pops up) in the end by pretending to be aliens. I knew he was going to say "...probe," although I half expected "exterminate" (yes, I know why probe makes more sense).

Based on Sousa's reaction to Peggy showing up at Area 51, I don't think he expected to ever see her again, or at least any time soon. But who knows, anything is possible. Even after time jumping from the '55, I'm still holding onto hope that Peggy will show up at some point.

funny and entertaining episode from start to finish. It will be one to rewatch for sure from time to time.
the abduction closing scene made me laugh out, I just expected a bigger grin on Deekes face "my idea Mack" ;)

like the poster above I cling to a tiny hope we get to see actual Peggy Carter (and Jarvis), glad it's at least a two parter and we stay in that time for a bit longer.

the Daisy ordering the hit was talked about by Mack, dito the weird May reaction to Coulson and whatever Yo-Yo's dealing with.

My "spidey" sense also thinks a Deeke and Daisy romance will happen in some shape or form. (Paraphrasing: I'm not the same guy you met. No you are not)

Great episode, tons of fun.

Who wants to give a prediction on which episode Fitz finally shows up in? (No spoilers if you already know the answer please.)

So next episode stays in the same year, but looks like a completely different style? That's a cool way to do things.

Now I want the entire episode to be in black and white. I'm seconding the theory that the agents are going to take Sousa with them when they leave 1955. And I'm totally shipping Daisy and Sousa.

Another cool retro logo-- and Theremin music! :D

Still no Fitz, though. How many episodes does that guy actually appear in?

But there was lots to like in this episode, from the cool retro tech-- including the beautiful cars-- to all the nice little character bits. Deke has changed, Mack didn't feel like explaining, RoboCoulson is a big fan of Sousa, Gemma does a nice Peggy Carter, and May had an attack of claustrophobia or so it seems-- PTSD may be what ails her, after all. And I loved Deke and Mack faking the alien abduction. But were people probed in those days? That seems like a more modern alien abduction trope.

The Cuneiforms plotting their temporal manipulations in their bare room brought to mind that white void from Star Trek: Enterprise. Although I can't remember the details of what that was about and Google brings up nothing. Am I imagining that, or did the timeline change?

The parallel battles with the Cuneiforms at the end was nail-biting. RoboCoulson in Superman mode is like watching a super-powered accountant. And May and YoYo together couldn't get the better of their opponent, even with YoYo's six-million-dollar hands. Now Coulson has been felled by the EMP-- is he shorted out completely, or just rebooting?

And at the end of it all we're still in the 1950s-- will the real Peggy Carter be called in to grill her doppelganger?

1950s Peggy, is married to young Steve Rogers.

Saw some promotional material for season 3 on YouTube.

Has Brett Dalton weasled his way back into the family? I can totally see time travelling Daisy loathing to pretend that she still wants a piece of that.

Maybe this was how the whole Probe thing got started meaning they were always destined to tell the probe story. Also were is Piper? Is she off with Fitz?

I think you're conflating the dark room where Future Guy appeared that never looked as cool as it did in the pilot with the white void where Trip and T'Pol psychically bickered in their dreams in season 4.

Another great episode.
The retro look, the interviews, Sousa, all of it.
As much as I want a Peggy cameo I don't think we will get one.

Did anyone else think of the "Archer: Dreamland" season when they saw Sousa face down in the pool?
