Agents of SHIELD: Season 6

So not something from a previous episode like Leopold?
It wasn't a coherent persona like Leopold, more of a composite of all the thoughts and feelings Jemma has been actively suppressing all these years. That said, I did notice a smear of the gold face-paint and part of the costume from when she was a slave of Kasius, and I suspect the whole savage, bone-dagger wielding killer parts seems to represent the time she spent on Maveth.

Does TV Tropes have a name for these kind of episodes where they're in an empty abstract world in the character's heads? The first one I remember was a "very special episode" of Family Ties.

Doesn't seem to be one for the general case of "mind episode," but there seem to be about a billion sub-types. There's only one listed on the episode's recap page so far, but let the wiki magic do its work.

Of course, I just assume I'm still in the first mind prison.

A thought just occurred to me. The actor that plays Deke is now a full time cast member, but has barely been a presence this season despite it being half over already. Meanwhile, the actors that play Enoch, Piper, Davis and Dr. Benson are all just guest stars despite playing far more substantial roles. Wouldn't the better option have been to just make all of them (Deke included) "Also Starring"?

Granted, they may have wanted to keep the death of Yo-Yo's boyfriend a surprise. Well, then just list the returning characters as "Also Starring" and give Dr. Benson that honor if he returns for Season 7.

Credit placement is not about the quantity of an actor's screen time or their prominence in the story, but is about how much they get paid and how good a deal they made. And actors are rarely demoted to a lower credit than they had before. Since Jeff Ward (Deke) was the first-billed recurring player last season, it makes sense that he got promoted to a higher credit rank for his return, even if it's not commensurate with the size of his part so far. Maybe they plan to do more with him later in the season, and needed to sign him on as a regular to ensure that he'd be available when they got around to it.

Awww, that was beautiful. :rommie: (Actually, I mean it.)

I knew that we were going to see Evil Fitz, but Psycho Gemma took me by surprise. That's what I call parity. "If you were in charge, the Framework would have looked like Night of the Living Dead." :rommie: It was great seeing them work out their issues and relive key moments in their lives in a shared mindscape-- reaffirming not only their love but that they are essentially one person. Even their Evil Twins have the hots for each other. I love these stories where a character's inner thoughts and feelings are made explicit in a surreal world-- it's so 70s. I wonder what my mindscape would look like. Probably the 70s.

And Enoch took bold action! I wonder if he killed Chronocomianites or just took them offline. I wouldn't be surprised if at least the Boss Lady turns up again, and is involved in the showdown with Sarge. And how they will solve the problem of the Chrono-homeworld being Trinitited? In any case, I want to see Enoch become an official Agent of SHIELD before the show comes to an eventual end (far in the future, I hope).

I'm having do much fun with this show lately! The psychedelic mushrooms in space ep with its kooky camera work and baked characters, now Fitz and Simmons screaming recriminations at each other while reviewing the entire series in perfect continuity. What fantastic writing and wonderful performances!

I especially loved the way Fitz and Jemma were in the past moments and duplicated their behavior from them, but then could simultaneously react to the pain of the memory and also step outside it to talk to each other. Brilliant.

Do you watch Legion? Pretty much the whole show is that.

Actually, no, I've never seen that. I believe it's based on a Marvel character that I never cared for, but maybe I'll check into it.

2 seasons and I don't think that Chuck Xavier or the X-Men have been mentioned, which is weird.

Deke loves Daisy.

It should take Deke half a season to trick her into loving him back.

It's really surreal and freaky and stylistically experimental and dark. It's designed to make us uncertain whether what we're watching is even real or the product of an unreliable/unstable narrator (viewpoint character). I think that works better in season 1 than season 2, though, since by season 2 it's supposed to be clearer what's real, so the continued surrealism feels more like an affectation. I also really disliked the story turns season 2 took, so I won't be back for season 3.

You should come back. They only have one more season. Might as well see it through. Jason

No. I really didn't like season 2, and it made a choice at the end that I find reprehensible. I'm not going to come back for season 3 just because it's the last one. I already made the mistake of watching season 2 of The Punisher out of a sense of completism, and now I wish I hadn't.

One trivial detail about the Chronicoms: they keep invoking "a star in the constellation Cygnus", so I find myself wondering which star is "Chronica". It's bugging me.

Well, the exoplanet-hunting Kepler space telescope was pointed specifically toward Cygnus, Lyra, and Draco, so there are hundreds of potential candidates that we know of.

As far as I know it has almost nothing to do with the comics, beyond the basic concept of the character, so I wouldn't let your feelings about the comics version stop you from checking the show out.

I'm working on Season 2 right now, and it's pretty quickly become on of my favorite shows.

Interesting. I just blew through DD S3 a lot faster than I planned to, and was considering using the extra time to try The Punisher, which I'd originally considered to be a "maybe" after finishing JJ. Without getting too spoilery, anything in particular that really turned you off the show?

I've never cared for the comics Punisher as a antagonist, never mind an a protagonist. But I vaguely recall thinking that they'd made him interesting in DD S2.

Yeah, it's off-topic! :p
