Agents of SHIELD season 5

I was loving the wedding scene, and then the phone rang. Our house phone is on the cable, and the system puts the caller ID up on the TV in a big damn gray box. AAARGH!!!

Yeah, yeah, first world problems.

If they're still Avengin', I'm sure they keep an eye on that sort of thing. The SHIELD crews IDs are out there prominently enough that a small-town cop recognizes Daisy.

How could they not know at this point? Coulson's on top of the Most Wanted list.

Sure, personally, I assume the Avengers found out years ago and it just didn't come up in a movie. But I'm not talking about my opinion, I'm paraphrasing what Kevin Feige said when he was asked that question, because apparently some fans (and reporters) still assume it hasn't happened unless they see it.

The real question isn't about Coulson; it's whether the movies will ever directly acknowledge characters or continuity from the shows. Coulson's resurrection is just the bit of TV continuity that you'd think would be most likely to be addressed in the movies (although the emergence of Inhumans is a pretty big one too). And if Coulson dies (again) at the end of the series, that means the question is sidestepped without the movies ever having to mention it.

They established otherwise this week.

Well, no; it was a fakeout in the sense that we thought it was that cop that was reporting to the general at the time, when actually it was Piper. The cop did belatedly recognize Daisy, but not until after last week's events.

Whether or not it was a fakeout last week, the point remains that a small-town cop did recognize and report Daisy.

Okay, I get it now. You were referring to this week, Hartzilla thought you were referring to last week. I was just trying to point out the difference between the two.

That was a nice way to celebrate 100 episodes. The fear dimension wasn't the most original concept, but it was a nice way to bring back a bunch of familiar faces, and to explore the characters a bit. I loved how they used the reveal that Coulson is dying to really explore the characters relationship.
Seeing Deathlock again was an unexpected surprise. I figured the fear dimension creation of Mike Peterson was all we were going to get, so seeing Deathlock in person was cool.
Loved the Fitzsimmons wedding, and while it was expected at this point, the reveal that Deke is their grandson was still a pretty cool moment.

This was quite good and a worthy hundredth episode. It tied the entire history of the series together in a subtle way and it makes sense that Coulson would harbor a fear that his post-resurrection life was just a deathbed hallucination. But it came as a surprise that his Kree-tech resurrection is only temporary and that his old wound is going necrotic. I'm sure Fitz and Simmons will think of something, but then there's still Future YoYo's warning that they must let Coulson die.

The reactions to the revelation of Coulson's condition were pretty overwhelming, but a very good way for the anniversary episode to emphasize that it's all about him. Coulson wants the team and the institution and the symbol of SHIELD to continue after he is gone, but to everyone else there is no SHIELD without Coulson. I can sympathize with that, since he is the very reason I started watching the show to begin with. But they'll have to get over that, because nobody lives forever and ensuing generations have to learn to carry on the mission of those who came before-- surely a lesson for our times. Still, it was heartbreaking to see the reactions, especially Daisy ("There is nothing without you.") and May ("I get to decide what's worth my time."). But they need to realize that they can live up to Coulson's inspiration, just as he has lived up to the inspiration he found in Captain America.

The impromptu and unofficial wedding of Fitz and Simmons was a nice way to cap the episode, especially having it performed by Coulson. Who else could really do it? And it was cool having Deathlok back for a minute, and I got a kick out of the little asides between him and Deke. And now we know for sure that Deke is the second-generation offspring of FitzSimmons. I suppose that makes it a sure thing that he will disappear when the time cycle is broken.

I thought it was a great episode.

This wedding seemed way more fitting and satisfying than the double wedding in Crisis on Earth X. And Coulson's "authority" in the wedding is at least acknowledged as not being "legal" (unlike DIggle's impromptu ordination)...but since they've been playing house, it's not a big deal as the expression of commitment to the SHIELD family.

I asked out of curiosity, not moral judgment.
Yeah, but it kinda came across pretentious...my first reaction was "Dude, can't you just enjoy the long awaited wedding?"

Suprised no one has mentioned the Daisy-Phil interaction...i always thought it would be great if Chloe, Clark and Ming Na would be in a movie where they played a family...they totally sold the family-daughter type of relationship Daisy & Phil have.

Also loved the intro as it went through all of the previous incarnations..(like Agents of Hydra)
