Agents of SHIELD - Season 2 Discussion Threads. (Spoilers Likely)

I still think that they're just going to make Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch Inhumans in the MCU. In the Winter Soldier post-credits scene, Strucker and his lackey were talking about how all the other test subjects they'd been experimenting on had died, and only Wanda and Pietro survived the process. I'm thinking that's because their DNA contains latent Inhuman genes, and Strucker inadvertently activated those genes and triggered the twins' powers.
Kevin Feige was talking about how much he wanted Inhumans and in the same conversation said that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch would not be Inhumans in the movies. Given that context, I can't think of any reason to be deceptive and he certainly was unequivocal that they would not be Inhumans.

So I really think this belief has been thoroughly debunked by now.
Aw, darn. That seemed like the most logical explanation for them. Oh well. Although they did keep denying that they were doing Civil War up until they finally announced it...

Act II:

I love Coulson's briefing. And Fitz getting an assignment!

Interesting speculation on Mockingbird's part, on Bakshi and Whitehall.

AGENT CARTER!!! ("Who happens to be British....")

Her and Reinhardt/Whitehall...hmm...interesting, their conversation about his possibly helping out. Beginning of HYDRA's infiltration of SHIELD...?

Interesting: Skye's dad knows more about the Obelisk than Reinhardt/Whitehall...and can get them into the city...?

Yeah, I'm thinking that, too. Or else, just a random Inhuman or whatever that Reinhardt/Whitehall used to get young again.

Act III:

Hmm...so, we know Sen. Ward is NOT with HYDRA. And--the well. THE WELL.

Fitz is talking quite well, now!

"Nothing stays buried forever." So...was there a reason Carter didn't just have him killed?

Act IV:

Reference to Pierce!

Nice dynamic between Mockingbird and Bakshi! AND...the little thing about HYDRA agents we remember from Captain America: The First Avenger.

Hmm...so Grant Ward BELIEVED Christian made him do it...but the Senator's got a point about him, unable to reconcile his villainous deeds with his desire to be the hero.

And...the truth comes out. A VERY interesting sequence, at that. (And we're supposed to buy that they're all okay, now...? And, how do we know the senator's telling the truth, not just saying it to appease Grant?)

And in the end: Holy...CRAP!!!

Trip! And "I can help...I'm a Doctor."

Very interesting.

And yeah...home stretch. Our Doctor...may not care who gets him "home" again, maybe?

Act V:

I love this. Skye's dad is such a wonderfully complicated character.

Gruesome sequence with the woman.

Whoa...and yet another BIG twist with Ward! (Figured he wouldn't leave that alone with his brother.)

Hunter and Mockingbird--the simmering reaches a boiling point. :D

Interesting how they keep quiet about Skye's dad. Respecting his wishes? Do they think perhaps he might deserve it?

And...at last: they've got a lead!

End:

SO...she WAS Skye's mother!

Trailer:

Raina's back. And...Skye vs. May? Or a double of May (Koenig saying "she looks exactly like Agent May")?

And they reach the city...?

Well that was part of my point, the only difference is getting their powers from an "external" event, so as long as the character gets the power from something, an experiment or accident, then they aren't a mutant and could use them.

But I don't suppose that would let Beast be an Avenger.

I think you're overthinking it. They don't have the right to use characters from the X-Men franchise. That line is obviously blurry on the lines but includes characters primarily associated with them. Wanda and Pietro are apparently equally associated with the Avengers, so they can be shared by both. On the other hand, William Stryker or Bolivar Trask aren't mutants at all but they still can't use them because they're clearly X-Men characters. Someone like Typhoid Mary was created for Daredevil, was used primarily with Daredevil, had a brief crossover with the X-Men where it was stated she's a mutant, but she's not an X-Men character she's a Daredevil character. So Marvel can use her, Fox cannot.

BTW, anyone who complains about Hydra not being Nazi enough can shut up after tonight. Reinhardt is genuinely creepy.

Looks like Agent 33 to me as well, she has the same damage to her face that May left.

Exactly what I thought I saw. That nanomask damage burned right down to the skin, didn't it?

Another great episode with a lot of revelations... and more Captain America movie references than you can shake a stick at!

I'm incredibly curious where this story is going; we're clearly talking about Attilan and the Inhumans at this point... but we already know there's an Inhuman movie coming out in 2018. So there's no way they can introduce or show any of the characters because they're going to be played by someone famous 4 years from now! So what are they going to find? A dead abandoned city? Or just meet third string characters who say Black Bolt and Medusa are somewhere else at the moment?

^Didnt you see Man of Steel? Activating ancient technology(the temple) always sets off the distress beacon calling the owners home. I am sure Coulson will at the end of the episode turn from a computer screen, face the team and say we only have four years to get ready for their return.

No. I am disappointed that we didn't get to meet the parental Wards, mind you...

Yeah...and I'm deeply concerned the "confession" Ward planted will result in a destruction of Sen. Ward's credibility, as far as redeeming SHIELD's name goes.

Of course...how honest was he? Question for everyone: anyone think his confession to Ward was honest...or was he just saying it to get him to stop?

AND--is Ward re-joining HYDRA for real (and if so, what was delivering Bakshi to Coulson all about)? Or is he just prepping up for delivering more "gifts" to Coulson?

I kind of got the feeling that Ward was infiltrating Hydra, not joining them. It also feels like, since Skye's Dad seems to have joined up with Whitehall to kill him, Skye's Dad and Ward might be natural allies, in somethings at least. They're both obsessed with Skye, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them team up and/or meet with Skye near the end of the season.
