Guessing that USDoD still considered SHIELD to have been "theirs" considering where that committee hearing interrogating Natasha was decorated as being located...?
Eh, for much of their lives, they didn't know who their father was. They grew up in eastern Europe far from him. They can be cryptic about their abilities and origins without deviating at all from their actual origin story. They don't have to use any words that start with M to do that.
Yes, we should remember that Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch were appearing in Marvel Comics for nearly twenty years before they were retconned to be Magneto's children. So it's not like you can't tell AVENGERS stories about them without mentioning their parents . . .
Marvel did it for years and years!
Could Marvel studios get away with having someone say something like, "As far as I know, he was some nobody who died in a car accident. What was his name again? Eh...Ehr...something like that?"
Yeah, in "Marvel time" Wanda and Pietro have only been known as Magneto's kids for a short time. Mostly they've known him as the abusive douchebag racist who forced them into being terrorists and later as an enemy. Django was more their father than him.
In a comic book that would get you superpowers, too.Just make sure he never goes on the electric fence.
Sometimes not being familiar is a good thing, though, because of so many changes.
Such as, I believe in at least one version, they were raised as children by a cow.
A modified cow that the High Evolutionary made into a sort of cow woman, but I doubt that will come up.
Yeah, I wasn't sure if I remembered wrong, but http://www.comicvine.com/bova/4005-11503/ I was partially right.

Actually, High Evolutionary had something to do with a lot of different things at some point, I wonder if MCU will use him, that would be interesting because there's so many things he could do or be used for.
I thought the chronology was a bit off...e.g., they'd have Agent 13 do a voiceover about Jim Shooter taking over in 1978, then do a montage about developments in the early 70s.
It's not a map to Knowhere, though, it's a blueprint for a city. Skye's comment predates Pratt's anyway, if I'm not mistaken.
I am not really that worried about the SHIELD timeline. I think it is pretty obvious that the plan for SHIELD's background evolved since the original Iron Man movie, but there is nothing wrong with the concept that SHIELD remained secret up until the battle of New York.
Any glitches in continuity up until this point could be explained relatively easily and there will be many opportunities to do so over the next few years if TPTB feel it is necessary.
