When Spock screamed Khan, it was a cringing moment.I think STID is a good movie. But I have to admit that the TWOK sacrifice reversal scene was kind of... awkward (But Pine was great in that).

I was like: "They really do this?"When Spock screamed Khan, it was a cringing moment.
But then why bother watching anything?
The point is suspension of disbelief. You may know intellectually that the hero is death-proof, but you buy into the jeopardy emotionally. Or you don't buy in, in which case it might be unsatisfying, but then that's the fault of the writers/directors/actors in the specific instance.

I've been watching Trek since 1966. Spock's behavior in the new movies is purely vintage, TV-era Spock.
It was a moment so brief that I moved past it and in to the next scene.
For me, the emotion of Kirk's death kept me there. Spock's reaction was interesting to, and I don't have a problem with it.
My larger issue was the fact that Khan didn't need to be Khan. But, beyond that, I love the emotions and changes to the characters and watching them go through these struggles and seeing what they will become.
I'm not a "new fan" and no no problem with Spock's reaction.
My thoughts on that scene were 'why on earth did they go there'? IMO they did not pull it off. When Spock screamed Khan, it was a cringing moment.
1. Yanks, that's a couple of times in the last couple of days you've taken a none-too-subtle swipe at fans whose opinions differ from yours. Knock that off, please - we're here to talk about the movies, not to criticize and psychoanalyze the fans. But hey, the "new" fans think Spock loosing control and screaming like an idiot, running down the bad guy and beating him to an inch of his death is in character.... so glad they've been brought in and understand trek now.
Not judging others opinions at all. I very clearly state I'm sorry this is their exposure to Spock. Read my posts. I've judged the movie, not fans. I've repeatedly told folks that I'm glad they enjoyed it.1. Yanks, that's a couple of times in the last couple of days you've taken a none-too-subtle swipe at fans whose opinions differ from yours. 2. The supposed "Old Fans/New Fans" divide has been shown again and again not to exist, so far as the Abrams films are concerned, so why don't you just drop that, as well?
...I've judged the movie, not fans...It's never been shown anywhere quantitatively what you state...
so glad they've been brought in and understand trek now.
Good for you. Not sure what trek you've been watching, but whatever trips your trigger.

TOS and TNG, mostly - but, you know, I saw the former well before there were hordes of fans on the Internet trying to define for the world what Star Trek is and how we're supposed to think about it.
To each his own.Why? It's a fucking TV/movie character.

Star Trek.... Spock.... Not real?I know, it's almost as if they were real to some people.
Was there any point to this post, apart from being snarky?Good for you. Not sure what trek you've been watching, but whatever trips your trigger.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Oh yeah, and there's been nothing sarcastic or judgmental about that.I've judged the movie, not fans. I've repeatedly told folks that I'm glad they enjoyed it.
