I liked Deanna Troi as a character in general, but I think she could have been developed more deeply. We never knew what years she attended Starfleet Academy, or how she even became an officer (and one without command training, which surely all officers must get by virtue of being an officer).
Marina Sirtis was and still is a beautiful woman, so that in itself is a plus.![]()
Outside of Chief O'Brien, I don't think we saw too many non-coms, unless you count "crewman".
There have to be a lot of officers who don't take command training, like whoever is in charge of the galley or (if they still have such a thing) the chaplain(s), or even most doctors.
