765874 - Unification

The objection to Mrs. Spock and offspring is that they might be too far in the future. If that's the case there were most likely corpses. (Why are THEY not being reunited with Spock before he dies? Who knows? Maybe they have to go see HER parents? ... Er, the Vulcan one.)

Or time travel. Or Q. Or some inter-dimensional hoodey do that is unique to this story.
Maybe it's a Katra thing.

Interesting that Urbach says this is the last we'll see of these shorts
It's true that there appear to be loads of deleted scenes and no clear plan to use them, but if you're saying the series is ending the article actually says:
Urbach says they may do more films for the series, but this moment with Kirk and Spock is the “ending scene,” adding “this is the culmination of everything that would have possibly happened with these characters, and we are not saying what would happen after.” He does say “there is absolutely more we want to tell,” so he is hoping they do follow up with more for “the middle part of this piece that connect the beginning and end that we have shown so far is something we would want to explore.”
I'd love to see the deleted material from this and the previous shorts in any case.

Interesting that Urbach says this is the last we'll see of these shorts when the clips and behind-the-scenes shots indicate they've shot a lot more material featuring Colt, Spock, Saavik, and more.
Not to speak for him too much as he posts here, but he doesn't say there will be no more shorts. He says that Unification is the end of the story. He hopes to be able to tell the middle parts.

Edit: My bad, Cap'n Calhoun already said as much. :)

Actually I meant that Unification was a fitting closing scene for Kirk and Spock's narrative from our story's perspective, but not the end of us creating more content to fill in everything else that happens before then.

Eh, in the end, it's all wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey-Stuff. ^^

Huh? From the article;
“He does say “there is absolutely more we want to tell,” so he is hoping they do follow up with more for “the middle part of this piece that connect the beginning and end that we have shown so far is something we would want to explore.”

After reading that TrekMovie article I'm a bit confused. Did Sam Witwer then play all the Kirks? I thought that Shatner had played the older one.

This is sort of an interesting microcosm case study in how misinformation can come into existence and how it spreads. I’ve seen several people here and elsewhere saying that Shatner filmed scenes for this. I think it’s partially because OTOY to some degree deliberately obfuscated the truth of the matter by for example listing Shatner in the credits. Or by releasing that interview with him at the same time. But then I also think another factor is that people are genuinely confused about what the effects people have actually achieved in this. At this point nearly everyone has seen de-aging SFX in movies, TV shows or even just by using an app on their phone. But the kind of makeup plus flawless AI effects on top are still relatively novel. And then I think what’s also a factor is that people just really want it to be true. It would be so cool to know that Shatner played Kirk one more time for this. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this pop up again and again over the next couple of years.

You could tell it was Kirk, but my mother, a big shatner fan, was not sold on him being shatner. She says that some of his microexpressions are missing.
