Quite honestly I do hope this is goodbye. And not just because I'm not a big Amy fan. It just seems that theres not much left to be said about the characters, and its all devolved into "What can we do to fuck with Amy and Rory's heads THIS week?"
I guess I'm just at the point where I'd like to see them go ahead and start getting on with their lives. Maybe take another shot at starting a family.
Not to mention wanting to see Eleven interacting with new companions.

Good episode overall ... LOVED the ending. I agree with what some said about the goodbye feeling abrupt, but that's OK as long as the finale is the final goodbye. However, I would also be happy to see Amy back next season! The most important thing was that the Doctor choosing to leave Amy and Rory was logical and fit the characters perfectly. Amy loves the Doctor so much that she would probably have never left on her own accord, but 11 HAD to leave because her staying would have likely led to her death. And the psychological tidbits about her childlike worship for the Doctor were great because it illustrated just how far Amy has come in her arc toward complete adulthood. Very few bad things to say ...

I must say that I was fairly impressed with it. I actually haven't felt this bad about a parting then when Rose "died". You grow attached to a Character, and especially a pairing like Amy and The Doctor. You simply don't want to see them apart. But you know that they have to part sometime.

It felt to me that The Doctor did the right thing and not because it was "the right thing", but because he honestly Loved Amy. It was also a big hitter for me because the Doctor finally revealed his "worse reasons" for taking Amy in the first place. He was selfish and vain... It was Love for Amy that helped him to overcome that and make a selfless action that broke both their hearts.

After watching that moment... Wow.

But then, since it didn't affect him, maybe it wasn't even his room. No, that's stupid, they made a big deal out of it. I expect they'll come back to it later.

It was his room.

On Confidential they said they wanted it deliberately vague so the fans would debate for years about what was in it!

It was Adric saying "great news Doctor, I'm actually alive and we can go traveling again!".

I didn't care for the faith-eating monster in a not-really hotel runaround, but it had some good points to make about The Doctor's nature and relationships with his companions. So, partly meh, partly OK.

I assumed the Doctor's fear was the death of his Companions, and that's why he left them behind.

I'm not so sure that would be it. I mean, he's spent his career risking the life of his companions and he hasn't stopped after they experienced close calls or historically actually lost their lives.

I liked the basic story idea, but the episode just seemed WAY too fast-paced and stylized to be at all suspenseful. And the explanations flew by so fast it was hard to know what was going on at times.

The departure of Amy and Rory was beautifully handled though. While I suspected they were leaving the show, I didn't expect it would be THIS soon. That final shot of the Doctor alone in the Tardis was heartbreaking, as you felt their absense just as strongly as he did.

Yeah I didn't get that feeling from the scene at all. It felt to me more like something from his childhood, or perhaps an image of himself alone or something.

I wonder who the Doctor saw in his hotelroom. Maybe himself?

He saw young Amy with faith in him (looking up at the stars). That's why, when the door disappeared at the end, the Do Not Disturb sign fell down. It was the room the Doctor previously saw.

Anyway, it was a really nice episode. Definitely pushed the average up for the season. At first, it just seemed a typical episode, but I liked the build up and the end. I think the moment where it clicked was when Rita mentioned the Doctor has a God complex. She was definitely a good character. I like Amy and Rory, but it was a good farewell for them. Very sweet. I like Rory's conversation with the Doctor. A bit of sentiment at the end. Although, I suspect they might be back for the finale.

I found this incredibly average. The best part about it was the emotional continuation from last week's episode. Old Amy loses faith in the Doctor > Young Amy must give up her faith in the Doctor. Without that tie-in, it would have been just filler for me.

Young Amelia waiting was Amy's nightmare. When she peaked while she was with Rita, you could see it was room 7, and when the Minotaur burst in at the end, you could see the #7 label again while they were with Amelia.

I wonder what the prison was going to do with Gibbis. The room with the angels was his, but he was so craven that he just folded immediately and didn't give the prison anything to work with to convince him to believe in the Minotaur. Would he have just stayed there forever?

thought the earlier part of the episode with exploring the various fears of the characters was the better part. I liked the female Muslim character(can't remember the name), too bad she couldn't have been a companion.

overall decent.

Fair enough, but I wonder why they showed the door hanger surviving in that case.

Probably because it was the door which contained the Doctors fear and it will have some significance in the future.....
