50th Anniversary Story Official Thread

Why do I have a very bad feeling that David Tennant will be the only former Doctor returning.

And that he'll just be a Zygon is disguise, possibly only briefly.

Le sigh.

I loved Donna at the time, but I don't really want her back for the special. Her loud personality would probably overshadow all the other companions too much.

*See's two doctors*

Donna- OOOH THIS.IS.BONKERS! This reminds me of the time my girlfriend Stephanie thought she saw her boyfriend making out with another man. Turns out it was his twin brother!

Clara- You had to travel with this?

Donna- OI!!!

Clara- Ow my tiny ears!

Shame Donna won't meet Amy

"Is this what you do? Trade up for a younger ginger?"

I'm sure there would be Zygons. After all, if you don't include the Yeti, Zygons are the biggest monsters in classic Doctor Who that are not Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, Silurians, Autons or Ice Warriors.

The Great Intelligence, Ice Warriors, and now the Zygons? I love it!

Seeing how faithful they've been with the Zygons (and the Ice Warriors) just makes me more annoyed over what they did to the Silurians.
I've never been a big fan of the Silurians, so I'm not so annoyed (although I'll agree that the black-eyed mask was much better than what we actually got). That being said, I certainly understand your frustration.

Especially since the SFX people actually made up this originally in S5: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-R8-s4_E7iLc/T-kAgVJWYqI/AAAAAAAAAO4/NIDUwMS4GWk/s1600/silurian.jpg

Wow, that is a great mock-up. Pity they didn't go with that.

Cool... a Zygon... They look a bit stupid in this day and age though! Lets hope they are imagined on screen in a modern way though :-/

I can't wait to see the Loch Ness monster :p

Reading up on the classic villain

The Zygons have shape-shifting abilities, allowing them to replicate the appearance of another being, but they must keep the subject alive in order to use its body print.
So, anyone want to bet which returning actor won't be portraying the real deal?

Oh... wodner how the body printing works with a TIme Lord? If they had one Doctor as a base, could they imitate his earlier incarnations? Or would the body print be maybe slightly downgraded, not quite accurate? ;)

I had a similar thought, of course that would mean if McCoy or Davison or whoever turned up it wouldn't be the real Doctor...but still they'd be there!

as for companions, frankly I'd prefer Donna over Rose but given how Donna's story ended that's really not likely.

Seeing as a couple of people have mentioned that Catherine Tate was at the table read the other day, and Piper's been officially confirmed, it seems pretty obvious that 11 runs into 10 (both of him) during the events of "Journey's End", somewhere after 10 has dropped off Jack, Martha, and Mickey, but before he drops of Rose, Jackie, and the human version of himself, and before he mind-wipes Donna.

So 11 will get two interact with at least 3 other Doctors (10a, 10b, & "Doctor Donna").

Plus, I'm still betting on appearances by David Bradley as Doctor 1, and Reece Shearsmith as Doctor 2.

I know many wouldn't like double emphasis on Ten but there is a certain appeal in seeing there needing to be two of them to compare to Eleven.

I've never been a big fan of the Silurians, so I'm not so annoyed (although I'll agree that the black-eyed mask was much better than what we actually got).
But the mask is part of what we got. And we wouldn't have had Vastra if the design hadn't been tweaked, so I can live with that.

Am I the only one a little pissed we haven't seen any sign of a Dalek yet? It IS the 50th anniversary special and they were primarily responsible for the show's longevity.

Filming has only just begun. I'll be surprised if there are no Daleks in this.

Monday was the read through of the script

Today was filming with Tennant( and possibly Billie Piper) and a Zygon suit

Give it time.

I think she'd be much more interesting if she looked like on Original Silurian rather than a generic "Sexy Alien".

She may have been more interesting - as silly-looking as the original design was - but a character needs a face. It's as simple as that. The face of an actor is more compelling than any styrofoam mask.

Everytime they've shown the Silurians in the past they looked radically different. So why is it so bad that they get a more human look since they are Homo-Reptilius(sp?) as the doctor termed. I didn't particularly like the return of the Silurians but it wasn't really the first episode was suspensful as hell and pretty well done. But much like the 70s episodes with the Silurians there were issues for the ending of the deal with the doctor always trying to get the 2 races to have peace and live on the planet and then it ends in the Silurians getting destroyed or driven away. This was no different.
