32nd century Dominion

Odo's lifespan could rather be measured in seconds once he entered the Link in "WYLB".

Those folks would have spent a whole war trying to bring him back in, only to find out he was part of a genocide scheme directed at the Founders. He has effectively forfeited the whole "none of us has harmed another" thing, and his life. Although the Link might be more imaginative than that, when it comes to just fates...

That's nonsense yes allegiances change but with Discovery every allegiance done a flip. The writers think they are being shocking but apply it so often that it's signposted and now it would be more shocking to see the status que.

As I said it's like the Harry Potter joke where all "bad" teachers turn out good. Or the GoT joke where every time a new fan favourite comes along he is sure to die

That’s why there should be a split. And a peaceful one, since if they are supposed to be like the Federation, and the idea of a Federation civil war has been thrown around before, then the Dominion if they ended up in a similar point in their history should come to the conclusion that fighting one another isn’t necessary, as a twist.

So then, there’s the original Dominion that joins the Federation. And then the Dominion that expanded into the Delta Quadrant, and were able to because the Federation had not set up shop there yet and Voyager did not stay in the quadrant to make a Federation there. But the Dominion is more concerned about running their corner of the galaxy in the 32nd century than conquering this time.

If Odo had a profound effect on the Link, I can't imagine the Dominion holding together. The entire system depended upon a hierarchial structure holding together that seemed unable to function unless it all ran more or less perfectly.

I'm not quite sure how we could read this into it. The government of the Dominion was but a myth to those governed. The Jem'Hadar either were there to enforce, or then weren't, and nobody could tell because they were invisible. If all Founders died and all Jem'Hadar performed suicide out of shame, it might be millennia before any Dominion subjects noticed!

I normally wouldn't resurrect such an old thread, but I just noticed this a realized that this is a relevant question again, given what happened on the last episode of DISCO!!

I wonder if we will get any answers now?

The Dominion already existed for what 2000 years by the 24th century... and it occupied a relatively small part of the Gamma Quadrant.
At the time of Ds9 they were more or less on par technologically with the Federation (with maybe a few more advanced things).

Given what happened at the end of Ds9, its likely the Dominion just went back to their part of space and resumed more or less business as usual at first.
We don't know if Odo has made any progress, but given how convincing he was with the female changeling (maybe she could be made a representative in the 32nd century if Disco bothers mentioning them), anything could have happened.

If the Dominion did change its stance in the proceeding centuries, to be something a bit more similar to the UFP (without fear, violence, threats, etc.) then sure I could see them spreading a bit more... but they also instilled fear into a LOT of species in the Gamma Quadrant... do we know if those species would suddenly change their tune?
Maybe not at first.

Also, the Burn should have affected EVERYONE in the galaxy who used dilithium and M/AM systems (which I still maintain should have been abandoned and changed for something far different well before the 32nd century)... so if the Dominion never changed how they power their ships like the UFP, then they would have been in the same pickle.

Alternatively, the Founders could have eventually joined the Federation (along with the rest of the Dominion), or at least formed a proper alliance (maybe joint missions of exploration?).

We really don't know a lot about a lot of species in the 32nd century, and Disco shoulnd't shy away from mentioning what happened (given the passage of time).

Probably not. A one off character might not share much about the internal politics of an empire.
