32nd century Dominion

What are your ideas for that happened in the time between DS9 and the 32nd century? If the Dominion kept expanding at it's rapid pace seen on DS9 it is possibly that the Dominion already borders the UFP though the Dominion advanced technologically slower in DS9 then the UFP showing pronounced conservatism and changing tech only when the need arises, the UFP probably is technologically superior to the 32nd century Dominion. (Even with tech plundered by the Dominion)

I would think Odo's influence would move the Dominion to being a more peaceful entity.

Likely as not they became a more conservative power in terms of growth and expansion, working towards maintaining their worlds, rather than constantly moving outward. The collapse of the Borg in the Delta Quadrant led to their exploring that quadrant more.

I don't know how I never thought of that. But you'd think that with the Federation losing its power, the Dominion would have easily claimed the galaxy, if they had the same strength they did in the 24th Century. (Would the Burn have affected the Dominion very much? It's been too long since I saw either show.) I'd say the Dominion either no longer exists by the 32nd Century, or is a crumb of its former self like the Federation.

Might be it conquered half the galaxy, and then became a member of the UFP that already ruled the other half. Since it had operated on the basis of having an invisible central government for thousands of years already, nobody there really even noticed when it became a UFP member, nor when the UFP ceased to be, nor when it came back.

Probably a good plan. It was the same thought process that led to Roddenberry accepting a Klingon onto the cast of TNG.

I'm far more curious about the Klingons than the Dominion in the 31st c.

I thought end of DS9 they went back to their planet. Probably still there. Jem'Hadar would have died out long ago.

I kinda figured if Odo was sent back to lead the Founders he probably would have had the genetic engineering on the Jem Hadar adjusted so that they aren’t addicted to the white. And to add female versions of the species.

As the old generations die off they are replaced by generations that procreate in a typical humanoid way. But they still keep the other traits which ultimately makes them more or less like Klingons.

My idea is that it split into Dominion Gamma Quadrant (retaining Vorta and Founders and officially adding the Breen and exiled Cardassian and Bajoran sympathizers), and Dominion Delta Quadrant (who have stopped worshiping the Founders and have absorbed Kazon, Hirogen, Vaadwaur, Vidiians, Talaxian, Ocampa, and various Federation outposts into their ranks) in the mid-25th century. Dominion Gamma Quadrant briefly allied with the Federation to deal with the Sphere Builders in the 26th century, while Dominion Delta Quadrant spent the 26th century engaged in a conflict with Species 8472.

Also, an independent Jem’Hadar colony was established in the Alpha Quadrant around the 25th century near Cardassia and Bajor and managed to coexist with them peacefully. They are the ones that have been heavily influenced by Odo.

It would be nice to see a future Dominion as a thriving Federation-like democracy under the reforms instituted by Odo rather than being ruled through fear and conquest by the Founders and their minions.

I mean, you only need to look at our own history, on planet Earth, to see how common this is. Discovery has been rather accurate, in that regard.

And it would be nice to see some real competition between the Federation and Dominion in trying to absorb new worlds and civilisations using the same or similar pitch (freedom, democracy, sentient rights) etc.

That's nonsense yes allegiances change but with Discovery every allegiance done a flip. The writers think they are being shocking but apply it so often that it's signposted and now it would be more shocking to see the status que.

As I said it's like the Harry Potter joke where all "bad" teachers turn out good. Or the GoT joke where every time a new fan favourite comes along he is sure to die

I actually don't want to see too much explanations of Klingons, Dominion, etc. in the 32nd century. I'd rather let Picard or 25th/26th century shows cover that. So far DIS has done a decent job of this, and the fate of the Romulans actually worked, since there was an expectation that they would eventually unify. I mean maybe show that the Klingons joined the UFP at some point (it would be consistent with the Azati Prime timeline at least).

IF they want to use an established race as an enemy, I would definitely second the Kelvan Empire, as it would be more of a cosmic threat, same with Species 8472. Or maybe if they want someone more abiguous, we're also getting close to the thousand year mark since "Arena" (give or take a century)...
