Cryptic devs said they had to scale down the Viridian by about 1/3 to make it playable, meaning it was longer than the Ent-J, which Cryptic does have at full size in the game.

It's so big it's almost large enough to house Discovery's turbolift funhouse.

These are from the Art of Discovery book, but they're the pre-refit version of the ship (and definitely do not fit the Turbolift Caverns of the season 3 finale)

Sounds like a great title for a 23rd century country album when read as tears (crying)

No one is believing the TFH and the TC really exist in the ship?

I think the TFH and TC are just artistic visual flights of fancy, not meant to be taken seriously.
I thought they were lampshading the trope of how conversations take just as long, or not, as the turbolift ride.

While they'd definitely never fit inside the ship at her intended scale (like you could park a Death Star in there), I am kind of taken with the idea the ship is mostly empty space, with just the rooms and corridors we see actually intended for habitation.

I call this the Hollow Discovery Theory™.

Ah, that is possible. Naval vessels do have empty areas that aren't really rooms. Just empty spaces, like in my head. We used to use the smallest area, (bottom front of the bow) for... well, lets just say it would get very 'foggy' in there.

The "void" of a ship's hull could be very useful. David Gerrold's "Star Wolf" series had that being the place for a lot of distillery processes. Also, could be the easiest way to get from bow to stern in a pinch, since it bypassed all habital sections.

The one in Season 2 would fit. Someone do measurements based on the few shots of it we got, compared to the turbolift and actors. I wish I could find it again.

But the season 3 one is way bigger than Season 2.

I think the system's hub on the Season 2 cutaway above is meant to be the Season 2 version, because we saw nothing else that could be that in Season 2.

Which brings us to the theory that they added the TARDIS-like "bigger on the inside" tech seen in the future ship from Enterprise during the refit.

I do not think any ship has a lot of empty spaces. Storage areas are are time varying, as well as shuutlebays.

The thing about TARDIS tech is – it's bigger on the inside independent of the exterior. So why is the Discovery still so big on the outside? Why not just dismantle the Discovery and, using your TARDIS tech, use its raw materials to build a fleet of dimensionally transcendental shuttles, each of which has a spore drive?

I do think if they did have TARDIS tech on Discovery, something so huge would have come up in conversation before the season finale. It's too big to use as a quick continuity fix!

And lord help us when they do a plotline where the ship will only hold X number of people:lol:

Oh yeah, ENT did that episode that went nowhere about a strange ship with bigger on the inside tech. Perhaps DISC is now where it originated from?

Section 31 and 31st century is just a coincidence, right?

Yeah the pod was from the 31st Century, though they don't give an exact year. Discovery is in the 32nd, the technology is at least 100 years old.
