The Asgard motivation in curing Jack was clear, and he had only been sick for four episodes, and his sickness was a C-plotline at best with only a few minutes spent on it. It was merely a tool to find the Lost City

Chloe has been sick for like ten episodes. Entire episodes were basically focused on it. Characters were angsty and acting like things would never go back to the status quo. All this build-up and emotional investment, Greer's speechifing, Scott looking pensive, Chloe crying, Young drinking, and it went no where!

Jack at least saved the Earth while he was sick. He had some agency, some action. Chloe, save for one moment of action, was meek and utterly boring.

Which is one of the overarching problems with SGU, the characters don't do anything most of the time. Destiny the ship has saved them over and over, while the characters sit and look out the windows.

Strange I don't think people minded when the Asgard cured O'Neill of the Ancients' download so it's odd that Chloe's cure in this ep. is considered convenient.

Well, the Asgard didn't spend all their time trying to kill SG-1 and steal their stargate. I'm sure it would've been seen a bit differently if, say, Heru'ur had cured O'Neill as part of some ill-defined alliance against Apophis.

Oh, I almost miss the old family.

Well Jack might've liked Thor but he had problems with the rest of them at one time or another.

Chloe summons the Sombreroids and they are, for some reason, willing to cure her in exchange for... um... wait, what did they get out of it?

I hear you, that made no sense whatsoever. I have a friend who doesn't really care about SGU enough to watch it but does enjoy hearing my rather sarcastic recaps of every episode, and did we have a field day when I told him that part. I said "The Sombreroids have them cornered, so Young decides to bargain with them. 'If you cure Chloe, you'll then leave us alone.' The Sombreroids respond 'Okay' and do just that." My friend goes "Uh huh. Ah, wait - what?" I just say "Yeah."

Strange I don't think people minded when the Asgard cured O'Neill of the Ancients' download so it's odd that Chloe's cure in this ep. is considered convenient.

They didn't spend ten episodes dwelling on the fact that O'Neill was changing just to have it magically waved away and amounting to absolutely nothing. They only spent one episode on it, and it helped set things up for Earth's eventual alliance with the Asgard, making it one of the most pivotal difining moments of the series. No, the franchise.

I do notice the lack of enthusiasm for the return of the show though, when this episode aired on Monday night there were not many posts about it on air date, maybe one or two. The posts seem to have followed almost a week later about the episode. A far cry from where we use to be on new SG nights with running commentary threads and grading threads, use to be a lot of people on live commenting, now it barely garners review posts on the same day it airs. I think it shows how much the franchise has winded down to nothing. I think the constant shifts in time slot from Syfy has hurt this show a lot also.

I think it's a reflection of the fact that Stargate is now on its death bed.

Since the series is ending early we have no idea what their future relationship with that race would become nor what effect Chloe's transformation might have on the series. Plus the Asgard saved O'Neill twice and yes that was after an Asgard trap tried to kill O'Neill and Teal'c. For that matter imagine that SG1 had ended after just two seasons we would had have no idea where the relationship with Asgard were going to go and worse still the series would've ended on a clip show.

Part of it is the fact that the show is now on Mondays at 10PM, part of it is that the show's over and there really isn't all that much enthusiasm about the show due to what we've been inflicted with in the past, and the fact that Stargate under the current management is tapped out.

I don't see how people are not understanding this. The Blue's ship was damaged and in no condition to fight anyone (the drones or Destiny). Its hyperdrive was down too. For all we know the weapons may have been down as well.

The Blues knew that another Command Ship was on its way too. They wanted to get out of there. So they held the shuttle hostage, with the threat of attacking Destiny (which was really in no condition to fight either) if they were double-crossed.

The Blues needed Cloe for the information she gathered and to complete the procedure (I think that the reason she manifested symptoms is because the Blues couldn't finish whatever they were doing before she was rescued) to have a true sleeper.

The Blues also used that time to repair their hyperdrives and get out of there when the second wave showed up.

Besides, that Asgard trap only tried to kill Teal'c, O'Neill would have been safe if that Unas wasn't in there.

The transformation might've lasted for the last ten eps. but if the aliens had really meant to kill the crew of Destiny they would've killed Telford as well. We still know next to nothing about their motives and curing Chloe is seemingly to cure Chloe would go along ways to creating a peace the two crews.

Huh? The Sombreroids have had no interaction with Telford at all. In fact, I think this is the first episode to even feature both Telford and the Sombreroids, and they still didn't have scenes together.

I still don't get why people are complaining about something being cheap, when we have seen zero follow up yet to prove that it's even resolved. The ending at least hints at after effects (even if it's just memories right now), so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt for now. It certainly wouldn't be the first unresolved plot point they've left hanging, and we've got 10 episodes left for them to go further with it.

Slow thread. Not a lot of enthusiasm for the show's return, I see.

Anyway, not the best episode. Just a lot of noise and people running around. As for Chloe, I heard in an interview with Elyse that she won't be the same and it looks like we got some hint of that at the end. I think they want to pull a "Surprise! It's not over!" twist somewhere down the line, but it looks like they aren't doing it in a way that satisfies a lot of viewers.

Didn't know it was back and with an even lower rating of 1.035 it's lower by 30,000 people. It may pick up but really who cares, it's canceled. I'm just having a hard time caring about the continuation of Stargate with the moron squad at the helm. I have to ask myself honestly....am I really willing to be disappointed by crappy writing over and over again then listen to them deeme my intelligence with this HORRIBLE story-telling...

I realized SG-1 may have been corny and escapism but it had to be corny. It was a cheap show and the escapism was class Trek and the Military Heroes was fantastic...that's Not SGU...

just not-interested in bad story-telling.
I'll watch it after it's canceled. I don't want to support show financially.

Still not seeing any issue here. They've already hinted that she's not quite the same as she was before, so it's not really a fakeout. So it's either a cheap resolve, or a fakeout? They just can't win. They never led us on that Chloe was cured before. Rush pretended to cure her, but it's not something they left hanging to fool the audience.

However it went, the exchange left me with the impression that Rush had another scheme going behind the idea of giving Chloe back to them. Maybe he's shown her equations and information that's incorrect somehow... Reminds me of the invasive program planted in the Borg, Hugh before going back to the collective.

And people have pointed out disappointment in not seeing the seed ship destroyed on screen. But they only announced that it was "gone". Could it have FTL'ed away in the midst of the battle only to be seen again later?

However it went, the exchange left me with the impression that Rush had another scheme going behind the idea of giving Chloe back to them. Maybe he's shown her equations and information that's incorrect somehow... Reminds me of the invasive program planted in the Borg, Hugh before going back to the collective.

And people have pointed out disappointment in not seeing the seed ship destroyed on screen. But they only announced that it was "gone". Could it have FTL'ed away in the midst of the battle only to be seen again later?

The Seed Ship's FTL was damaged, if they repaired it and were going to leave, I can think of a few better paths to take than direrectly into the swarm of hostile alien drones.

While it seemed things were resolved too quickly and easily this episode was far more interesting to me than most. No stones. No montages.

Watching this episode reminded me why they cancelled the show. Infinite opportunities, but the writers struggle to put anything interesting on the screen. I've watched since the beginning faithfully, and I really don't understand the motivations behind any of the boring aliens.

Only 9 more hours of self-imposed torture to go to see how this show ends.
