2x11 - Deliverance

The Control Ship might use a similar effect, but the Blues FTL definitely doesn't, it's like a white light trekky warpy thingy.

Where does 'Sombreroid' come from btw?

That's my fault. I pointed out in another thread that the image used for the first galaxy Destiny visited in the episode where they were in the intergalactic void was a photo of M 104. Thus did The Wormhole coin "Sombreroid." It's a shame it hasn't caught on.

A bit of a nitpick I just remembered: when the control ship and the Sombreroid ships arrive, the characters say the ships "dropped out of hyperspace" even though they use the same effect as Destiny dropping out of FTL, which is supposed to be different than hyperdrive. What up with that?

I noticed that too. Effects aside, I guess the blue aliens really do use hyperspace, but we know the Destiny does not, its slower. So... it really makes me wonder why the blue aliens want Destiny and all, I mean, they can already travel across galaxies with their hyperspace.

I am going to guess that the Blues put something on the outside of the shuttle while it was in there hanger to track Destiny.

Ah, I see.

I think they just alleviated Chloe's symptoms. I think she's still working for them, so to speak.

Just got around to seeing this last night. Pretty lackluster overall, and disappointed the Chloe story didn't go anywhere. I mean, really? That's it? She's cured? We dealt with almost an entire season of this shit and that's the resolution we get?

The rest of the episode was okay, but felt a bit too technobabbly. I really don't care about shit being broken on the ship, or the Ursini, or the command ship business. I hope the next episode actually has some meat to it.

I must be getting old and senile. Either that, or this was not a very good episode....

The whole Chloe thing is a major WTF? Those aliens chased them across galaxies, just to have a little chat, cure her, and go away? Did I miss something? As has already been pointed out, there was nothing new to learn about Destiny, they already had her and Rush captive. And now she's cured but still super intelligent? I didn't get that whole thing.

I give it a C.

When they'd captured her she knew nothing about Destiny, it's only after her infection that she started learning about the ship. As fro curing her, I seriously doubt that they have.

Slow thread. Not a lot of enthusiasm for the show's return, I see.

Anyway, not the best episode. Just a lot of noise and people running around. As for Chloe, I heard in an interview with Elyse that she won't be the same and it looks like we got some hint of that at the end. I think they want to pull a "Surprise! It's not over!" twist somewhere down the line, but it looks like they aren't doing it in a way that satisfies a lot of viewers.

The whole thing was just too easy and convenient. That's the heart of my problem with it. Our Heroes are screwed--but wait! Chloe summons the Sombreroids and they are, for some reason, willing to cure her in exchange for... um... wait, what did they get out of it? They had no reason to believe the Destiny crew would figure out how to neutralize the drones, so exactly what did they have to gain by cooperating?

None of this makes a whole lot of sense. I guess this script was generated by Writer Fiat 2003 (MGM wouldn't spring for an upgrade.)

Exactly. That's why I figured that I must have missed something. It doesn't make any sense. Not to me, anyway.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the show. I'm sorry to see it ending so soon. But this episode, particularly this part, was very disappointing.

Um... the information she's learned about Destiny over the last few months, you know, the whole reason they messed with her in the first place.

1. The information she gathered on Destiny, and 2. Time to repair their hyperdrive and escape.

Maybe I missed it but how did they get that information out of her? Was that done entirely offscreen? What did they even learn?

The whole thing was of rather dubious value, as a "trade."

I seem to be in the minority, but I really liked the episode, I thought it was very good. /shrug

I do notice the lack of enthusiasm for the return of the show though, when this episode aired on Monday night there were not many posts about it on air date, maybe one or two. The posts seem to have followed almost a week later about the episode. A far cry from where we use to be on new SG nights with running commentary threads and grading threads, use to be a lot of people on live commenting, now it barely garners review posts on the same day it airs. I think it shows how much the franchise has winded down to nothing. I think the constant shifts in time slot from Syfy has hurt this show a lot also.

Strange I don't think people minded when the Asgard cured O'Neill of the Ancients' download so it's odd that Chloe's cure in this ep. is considered convenient. This wasn't a bad ep. overall, the space battle was a good one and I liked how the crew worked together to solve the problem.

I don't think you're necessarily in the minority, it's just that criticism is much easier to articulate than praise. When these threads had polls, episodes were generally voted pretty highly, even if a lot of the comments were negative.

Well, the Asgard didn't spend all their time trying to kill SG-1 and steal their stargate. I'm sure it would've been seen a bit differently if, say, Heru'ur had cured O'Neill as part of some ill-defined alliance against Apophis.

Oh, I almost miss the old family.
