2022 book releases

That one only shows already released works, though? Although I'm presuming you meant to link this one?
https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Upcoming_productions

Yes, both, but I ran out of time with my post. I do visit that one and have added to it myself over the years. Thanks.

I'm sure there's probably a service that picks out books for you based on your tastes and the opinions of expert curators and sends them to you sight-unseen.

When the Internet was still quite new, a lecturer of my acquaintance was demonstrating the power of then-fledging Amazon. It regularly suggested books he might like and he called up his profile page and Amazon was recommending several books he had used/needed over recent weeks. It also recommended several books containing articles he had written himself, so the topic of his lecture delved a little into potential incoming-bearing projects.

Sorry for not being more clear about the book it was a mystery novel by Amanada Flower it was a book shop mystery series novel I'd been waiting for a long time to get in the mail.

Oh, no need to apologize at all! You were completely clear, the misunderstanding was entirely on my end! :)

Unless I'm forgetting something, am I right in realizing there will be no novel releases between last November's DS9: Revenant and this September's PIC: Second Self?

Revenant was December, not November, but otherwise you’re correct. The delays due to the paper shortage did a number on what was already a thin schedule; 2022 will have the fewest books per year out of the 40+ years that Simon & Schuster has held the license.

I wish I was plugged into the industry enough to know how many titles are getting shuffled due to shortages. Like will there be substantially fewer books published overall in 2022?
Also just spitballing based on how the movie industry acted during the pandemic, but would it do horrible things to paper book sales to release e-book versions of completed novels on time, even at "hardcover prices"?

Well, for one thing, the movie industry doesn’t have inventory. They done make prints for theaters anymore, movies are distributed on reusable hard drives as digital files. So the specific problem of early eBook sales cannibalizing delayed hard copy sales and resulted in a bunch of wasted production doesn’t exist.

Delays are definitely happening industry-wide. Publishers will work to keep them from having an impact on big-name titles, but Star Trek books aren’t and haven’t ever been that. I think Trek books are and for some years have been on the wane commercially for reasons separate from the pandemic, but that’s a hard think to quantify.

The film industry either released things simultaneously in theaters and on streaming platforms or forwent theaters entirely; they didn’t do a “streaming first, theaters later” model, which is what an “ebook first, paper later” approach would resemble. There’s no way to know what it would do to paper book sales, but I can’t see publishers taking the risk. Movie studios had no way to push out product; publishers can still move the books they have paper to print.

Egads. I had not thought we would not have another round so bad as half a decade ago.

A "joint Trill-Federation science expedition"? So...this takes place before they joined the Federation? Or before they rejoin in the 32nd century?

Interesting, based on the authors list provided, this would seem to include the exclusive subscriber-only digital stories. To be totally honest, the reason I subscribed to the magazine was really only to have access to the exclusive stories. If they're going to end up releasing them all later, I may not bother renewing when my subscription comes up.

Ryan North is absolutely perfect for Lower Decks. LD will probably be the first Trek comic I'll get in a long while.

Did any one else read the Mirror War: Sisko book? Talk about continuity errors...

Ryan North is absolutely perfect for Lower Decks.

Agreed!
