2012 Academy Awards show

I'm thrilled The Artist one. Great picture, a unique work of art and a lot of fun.

Thrilled too that they brought the dog up there. That dog deserved the recognition.

Streep is now in the three-or-more-Oscars-club, along with Walter Brennan, Katharine Hepburn (4), Ingrid Bergman, and Jack Nicholson.

It been years since I have actually liked the Best Picture. I am very happy about this! I hope more people check it out now!

Well I'm happy. In this day of the "huge" movie and (ugh) 3-D (yes, even if it's Scorsese behind the camera), it's fantastic to see a silent B&W movie take the big prize.

And irony of irony - did anyone catch the announcer mention it was the only one of the films actually shot in Hollywood? Even though it's a French film?

I hope it gets a theatrical reissue now. Or at least gets fast-tracked to Blu-ray.

Alex

Glad The Artist won Best Picture, but I was really hoping Viola Davis would win Best Actress. Meryl Streep should have won years ago for Doubt...but that year they gave it to Kate Winslet for The Reader. Blech. :(

Yeah, that was amazing! Though it makes sense because other than the two main stars, all of the other actors are Americans. One of the many great parts of the film are familiar faces in supporting roles. Also I imagine the street scenes where shot on real ones in the Hollywood area and on studio backlots. Places with a lot of rich film history.

I kind of want to see The Iron Lady now. I'm glad Maryl Streep won, but I was kind of rooting for Viola Davis because she was excellent in The Help. Still, having Streep win and her acceptance speech was the highlight of the night.

So very happy that The Artist won Best Picture and Best Actor. It's a wonderful film; I hope more people will be willing to go see it now.

Oh, and Christopher Plummer adds an Oscar to his two Tony and two Emmy wins, meaning he's now a Triple Crown of Acting winner.

Better start recording that spoken word album.

The closest to me showing The Artist was about an hour's drive away when I first saw it a month ago.

(then I watched it on dvd today.... yeah my sister's boyfriend is a dvd pirate and I get sent tons of stuff by her without even asking for any!!!! It was copied from the sampler sent out to Academy voters. A labels pops up on the top of the screen every few minutes) I am definitely buying the Blu-ray when it comes out.
