2011 MLB Season Discussion

I have 4 more hours of happiness and innocence until the Mets start playing tonight.

:lol::lol::lol:

We always get our hopes up, and the Meh-ts always manage to mess up. :(

I like how even SNY made fun of them the other night with an unauthorized use of a Family Guy clip ripping them.

If your team sucks and tries and has some plan going forward, good for them.

If your team is a smoldering grease fire of an abomination, with ownership crying poor, and $18M tied up in old salary, and questionable injuries year after year, and your stadium pays homage to another team, much less one that old timers in NY hate for leaving for LA, screw 'em. Like a jilted lover finding out your ex has alien space herpes, take pleasure in their misery.

I put the over/under on Jose Reyes at about May 12.

Schadenfreude. Coming to Citi Field this April. First 10,000 fans 14 and younger get a free Yadier Molina bat (c. 2006) and a Commemorative 2007 poster detailing the Heimlich Maneuver.

KM - Mets rehab hotline is available 24/7, PM for details.

Smoothie, would you please use the doll and show the court where the Mets touched you?

Batty Fan

The Royals and Kauffman stadium seem to have a problem with objects flying into the stands and injuring people. A couple of years ago a fan was injured when a football-airpowered cannon was fired into her. This past week on opening day a fan in the stands got hit in the face when a piece of a broken bat flew into the stands causing her some serious damage to the orbital bones around the eye.

I was there opening day but I didn't see any of this happening as it was clear on the side of the stadium.

Well, the Jays lost but they put up a pretty impressive rally in the 9th, capped off by a brilliant at-bat by Jose Bautista... which Lind promptly turned into chump meat by hitting a first pitch ground ball to 1st base. *facepalm*

Also, I know they really don't have too many options but they need to figure out an alternative to Edwin "E5" Encarnacion at 3rd. Dude put up three errors on opening weekend. Weak sauce.

So.... Javier Vázquez ruined my fantasy ERA. What happened to this guy? When he was with the Braves he was almost unbeatable when he had a little run support. Now, he can barely pitch. I thought I was making a pretty good move picking him up because of his previous domination of NL East teams.

Red Sox lose third straight. You'd think it's time to start firing everybody, judging by the media reaction.

Huh. Red Sox fans used to be pretty okay with losing. Then you give 'em a couple championships and they're suddenly indistinguishable from Yankees fans

Well, even when the Red Sox hadn't won, their fans weren't in a coma. No one takes losing their first three games well.

Somewhere between the gall bladder and the duodenum, apparently, because they make me wanna puke.

I channeled my inner Timby on this rant, didn't I? Except I can't possibly match his vitriol.

Wanna point to FANS over-reacting to the losses? I mean, not happy about it, but not worried that they're going to go 0-162 or anything. The MEDIA pointed out that they were predicted to win 100 games, and the same MEDIA is now generating "sky is falling" stories about the weekend. Haven't seen any fans freaking out...

Along those same lines, while Red Sox fans were formerly USED to losing (or more accurately, doing pretty well and then choking in a key moment either in the playoffs or in the home stretch of the regular season), they/we were never really "pretty OK" with it ;)

Well maybe not. But you know what I mean ;)

He started to lose it when he played with the Yankees. He was fucking atrocious and is one of the big reasons why the Yankees didn't take the AL East last year. It's pretty bad when a pitcher can go to the mound and expect to lose.

Pirates win again with a spectacular outing by Charlie Morton.

The Giants fan who was beaten by two skinhead Dodgers fans (their heads were shaved so that's what I'm calling them) is in a coma and may have brain damage. They had to remove part of his skull to ease pressure. :(

The two guys fled in a sedan driven by a woman who had a young boy with her.
