So I don't normally hang out in here or talk to Dr. Who fans much but is that the new internet meme now, that Moffat (once the saviour) is now the devil and should get the boot?

Kinda reminds me of Michael Eisner, Disney's saviour from corporate raiders in 1984, by 2003, the company co-founder's son was routing a campaign to oust him and bring in Iger!

The internet teaches me lots of things - I found out a few years back that we all hate ROTJ now. Oh well, I guess we all hate Steven Moffat now, too?

It's hardly a new meme, elements of fandom have been hating Moffat since he took over, just as they hated RTD before him. Just like with Star Trek, fandom hated Berman and Braga back in the day, now they hate Abrams and his posse.

Moffat really should step down soon. He's done the job just as long as RTD and is on the cusp of staying longer than he did. And given the season arcs seem to be in a rut and covering the same ideas and themes repeatedly and the seasons are getting reduced in episode count, I think Moffat's starting to look tired, don't you?

I like how he changed the *look* of the show. It felt less juvenile (I often called RTD's Who "Saturday morning" in feel) after he took over.

I actually felt the exact opposite. The show feels more kid-friendly with Moffat than it ever did with RTD (with the possible exception of early season 1). It also felt, for a foreigner like myself, distinctly more English than RTD, which was a bit more... international, maybe?

Even taking into consideration the fact that viewing figures are down for (almost) all series, the drop in Chart Position is pretty stark.

Out of curiosity, how does this compare to the episodes which aired on corresponding weeks last year?

For example, the weekend on which The Magician's Apprentice aired this year, last year Time Heist aired that weekend. Then The Witch's Familiar/The Caretaker, Under the Lake/Kill the Moon, Before the Flood/Mummy on the Orient Express.

Just wondering if maybe waiting an extra month to premiere the season is having a negative impact, or are the numbers roughly what should be expected this time of year anyway?

By that "logic" you can never offer any comparisons for anything because you'll never have exactly the same conditions twice.

So far this series, we've only watched the Magicians Apprentice live, for The Witches Familiar and Under the Lake we had the Rugby on and then with Before the Flood, we were out and caught up either later on that evening or like this weekend, just now. The weather the last few weeks has been pretty typical British Autumnal weather and has had no impact on us watching the programme live.

I've lived through the cancellation of Dr Who twice before in my incredibly long life.

Three if you count the burp in the middle of Colin's run.

I can only weather this level tragedy 2 and half more times.

So I just learned that this season is available to me via the Playstation Store, so that's how I'll be watching it. I don't have cable or BBC America, and I really don't like watching things on my laptap, so this will work out best for me.

I finally got caught up and watched all four episodes yesterday.

Didn't you think it was clever when Doc Brown plugged a "modern" Video Camera into a bog standard TV that had probably been manufactured in the last minutes of the 1940s?

A 3 dollar HDMI cable and your TV becomes a massive monitor for your lap top.

Theoretically speaking, maybe. But given the international appeal of Doctor Who and the fact that DW merchandise is pulling in revenue, a new controller is going to have an uphill battle to fight if they automatically decide to cancel Doctor Who or even put it "on hiatus."
