2 million fewer viewers

Thing is, as you yourself have said, Gatiss isn't a terrible writer, but An Adventure in space and Time might end up the best Who related thing he ever writes.

I don't know. Both Cold War and The Crimson Horror were great episodes, IMO.

Oh I agree completely, the two best episodes he's written IMO (especially The Crimson 'Orror) and the two that stop me from jumping on any kind of anti Gatiss bandwagon. I do think And Adventure in Space and Time was pretty darn near perfect that's all :)

Agreed all around! Crimson Horror and Cold War were great! And An Adventure in Space and Time was perfect! :techman:

Mr Awe

His Sherlock scripts are quite good too. I don't know why his Who scripts don't feel the same.

Aren't all shows about more than just the writing, or just the directing, etc?

Does Moffat give the writers an outline of what he wants for an episode?

*So the BBC's publicity blitz got more people watching live but didn't have any noticeable effect on the final figure.

Heaven Sent got 4.51 overnights but as we just saw that increase will probably be balanced by a decrease in those watching during the week.

I don't know if those numbers take America into account at all, but the live figures over here may have been raised due to this being a holiday weekend.

They don't. These are the BBC1/iPlayer numbers, which are the only ones BBC1 cares about.

Meh. I don't know how much I care about the declining numbers. My job isn't on the line. And it seems, maybe the tremendous popularity of a few years ago, isn't a sustainable thing--nor reasonable to assume it would be sustainable.

Audiences grow up, audiences change. Ten years by many many standards is a very good run. (Not that Doctor Who is being cancelled anytime soon.)

But, when the time comes to close up... I won't be particularly sad. A lot of great stories have been told. And there are other things on.

So Peter Jackson's Doctor Who video has had more viewers than most Series 9 Episodes. Maybe he can be the next showrunner?

Aren't those numbers taking into account international viewers? Something that you don't when you post viewing numbers of recent episodes...

Only if you want a three episode arc when one would have sufficed.

As opposed to Moffat trying to cram three episodes worth of material into one? Besides, multi episode storyline that could have been serviced in one, isn't that the basic definition of classic Who? *Ducks thrown chairs.*
