13's Outfit revealed!

Seems quite possible. Lots of prior Doctors have changed their looks from season to season. And this is the first time the Doctor's been a woman, so it makes sense that she'd have a learning curve on the question of wardrobe.

Maybe "clown-like" is the intention. Perhaps she'll be a Troughtonesque Doctor. Although we already had that with Smith, sort of.

Oh, I didn't notice the changed TARDIS. It looks a lot like the classic-series version -- no St. John's Ambulance logo, solid-color windows, black door sign, scuffed paint. I miss the Smith/Capaldi version.
Well I just saw on a rumour thread that there'd be three different versions of the Doctor trapped in different periods, this could mean that we'll get three different costumes I guess. But nonetheless, I'm hoping as time goes on, the outfit becomes more tasteful.

Maybe, I guess we'll have to see how it looks in action, for example Capaldi's promo shoot didn't do the costume as much justice as some of the set photos, but nonetheless this initial design is....still too garish for me.

Yeah, as a fan of an oldschool TARDIS look I approve, I was never a big fan of the Moffat TARDIS tbh, too bright for my taste, stood out too much.

I could do without the Wesley Crusher-esque rainbow stripes, but otherwise it's an alright outfit.

I am curious, if the rumours are true about her Doctor being split in three, are they all going to wear this, or might we see some variation in colours for the different ones?

Spoilers!

If the Doctor's personality also gets split, then maybe each Doctor's outfit reflects that. Maybe this outfit is for the "wacky Doctor" and another Doctor will have a serious outfit?

I didn't notice this until it was pointed out, but she has piercings on at least her left ear. Aside from the occasional ring, lapel pin, and celery stalk, The Doctor doesn't typically wear jewelry, so this is a nice touch as well.

I wonder if the spoiler thread's thing is a munging of some mention of her coat's shoulder/lapel echoing the Timey costumes from The Three Doctors.

I totally love this costume--it's better than I hoped it would be. It's quirky, funky, slightly anachronistic, and does look like an outfit she assembled from random bits & pieces she found in the TARDIS wardrobe.

She looks like crap. I mean, I have no taste. I LOVE Colin Baker's costume. But this isn't the fun or interesting type of gaudy, it just looks like Mork got depressed and decided to buy clothes with slightly muted colors and the Doctor swiped them. Either that or she's actually a five year old girl from the 60s or 70s who became an adult like Tom Hanks in that one movie. Well, maybe people will stop complaining about Colin Baker's costume now.

I too, like that the outfit hasn't been sexualized, but I HATE the high waist look.. With the suspenders/braces and the bagginess of the pants, they look like something clown would wear... I do love the coat and the shirt, but yeah, I just can't get past the pants..

This does very much have the look of something a Time Lord who has never been a woman before, trying to figure out what he/she should wear..

I do think it would be funny if there were a scene with her rummaging around in an old storage room in the TARDIS, going through his old assistants' wardrobes and pulling out some recognizable costumes from the past.. I'll lose it if she finds Tegan's stewardess outfit (I know, flight attendant)...

Don't have a problem with where the pants sit on her waist, do think they look weird stopping before her socks start. I noticed she has earrings, this means she has to get her ears pierced at some point. I wonder if the sonic screwdriver has a setting for that.

^ women do tend to have higher waistlines in their clothing.
I remember after Matt's costume was revealed some high fashonista did an article about how it looked old fashioned but was ridiculously trendy. I wouldn't be surprised if we're not going to see something similar here, especially with those trousers (they may class as culottes)

Don't like it. It's a bit normal as in something you might see on a catwalk or some fashionable girl on the street. Colors are very bright like something pulled from a kids daytime TV presenter.

I was hoping for the look from when she was revealed. Not really liking this look but I’ll get used to it.

To be fair you could make the argument about pretty much any of the modern Doctors (aside from Smith's Victorian look). It is interesting that some people think the colours too bright, whilst others too muted. Those trousers look pretty similar in colour to Ten's blue suit if you ask me.

First thought: Oh, so she's admitting she's got big boots to fill - see? She hasn't even bothered to fully lace hers up!

Second thought: I can dig it. It's relatively gender-neutral as expected, but a unique look already bound to be iconic. Also, plenty of Doctorish room for screwdrivers and gadgets in that coat, and it's going to help keep her warm on the long cold months of shooting on location in Wales.

Third thought: That top is gonna be the first thing that changes. But every Doctor has had variations, and I suspect that like Capaldi, the coat will be the main element that will change the least frequently / significantly.

Every time a Doctor's outfit is revealed, I get a brief "huh" moment, followed by quick acceptance. It was no different here. Bring it on. :)

A clown, you say...?

I find it rather surprising some people are calling the outfit too bright. I barely even notice the colors, in a good way. From a color theory perspective (speaking as a photographer), most of the colors in the outfit are cool (the blue pants, the grey shirt shirt, the tan jacket) while only a limited amounts of warm colors (the orange suspenders, the multicolor horizontal bar on the shirt). Suffice to say, far less bright than most of The Doctors' outfits.
