‘Superman & Batman’ movie will follow ‘Man of Steel’

It makes sense that DC wants to establish this movie firmly in a cinematic version of the New 52 verse, I guess. But for me, the current Flash continuity is just such a new version and there are so many other possibilities.

Those tv spots are both super goofy in their ridiculous seriousness (if that makes any sense), but the movie is going to be interesting, if nothing else. It definitely has me curious and willing to watch it with an open mind, which is a good thing, although its not one of the movies I'm really excited for this year.

Regardless of how the movie turns out, Ben Affleck really is Bruce Wayne/Batman made flesh. He's by far the best physical representation of the character from the comics, IMO.

I don't know if I'd go that far, but he's definitely the actor I'm most looking forward to seeing in Batman v Superman. People seemed to be a bit wary of his casting when it was announced, but I thought it was a good idea from the start, and I think he's going to pull it off very well.

These are very nice. The conflict between the two heroes is pretty clearly defined in the two trailers, #3 giving Clark's viewpoint of Batman being outside the law and #4 giving Bruce's viewpoint of Superman being outside humanity's safety zone. This point has been made before, not that the writers reacted to certain fan criticisms of the climax of MoS, but it's still very interesting how Bruce seems motivated by the sheer level of destruction in MoS (at least that's how it seems presented in the trailers).

Meanwhile, back at the batcave, those of us raised on classic TV and movie versions of the character are wringing our fingers to the bone over the choice.

See, we've been brought up to believe the Batman is just a regular sized guy who uses brains and technology to bring down the much bigger bad guys. A nearly hulk sized Bruce Wayne makes him hiding his secret identity more of a stretch, but I'll try to keep an open mind.

I've remained a mostly happy Trekker through all it's different incarnations so hopefully this difference will be an easy shrug off come showtime.

Speak for yourself. This fan of 50 years, thinks Affleck looks great as Wayne and the Batman. Hulk sized?

It gives away the location of Paradise Island.
So I guess the picture on the airplane means we will be getting at least three scenes with Wonder Woman. Some kind of party or event, the big battle with Doomsday, and now this airplane scene. I guess she will have more than just a quick cameo.

Well, I'm not really talking about his size (although I've always pictured Bruce being a pretty tall guy, and Affleck at 6'4" or whatever certainly fits the bill), I'm just talking about his overall look. Maybe it's because I grew up on Batman: The Animated Series from the '90s but Bruce Wayne, for me, has always been a square-jawed, dark-haired, classically handsome man. In-costume Batman is maybe a little too bulky for my tastes, but at least outside of the costume, Affleck just is Bruce Wayne. Every single shot of him from the movie that I've seen is like the comics brought to life.

That's pretty much Bruce Wayne since 1939.

All is one, in Darkseid.

I have mixed feelings on this. Darkseid is a cool villain, but at the same time going for him as the big bad feels a little too similar to Marvel using Thanos. If he is the big bad here, I hope maybe it'll be a one off, or that they at least won't reuse him for Justice League. I just hope Justice League isn't going to end up being another alien invasion story.
That does appear to be the same desert from the possible dream sequence, so I do have to wonder exactly how all of this is playing out.
